Well, if it's legal I don't see a problem with it, just don't get in a messy break up and have her accuse you of rape. They always believe the girl.

its also weird me being past my freshman year in college. i skipped a grade, AND she had the late birthday which made her stay another year in preschool, so we're loads of grades apart. its kind of a creepish perspective when you look at it that way. plus the fact that this girl is one of my cousin's best friends and my cousin is creeped out by the fact i even talk to her.

Nah. I don't think it's that bad. But only if you actually like her, messing with a girl who isn't legal would not be smart. If she's worth it, go for it. Just don't do anything stupid that might get you in trouble.

I would say 18 - 16 is as far as you wanna go.
Sure, when your older, 2 years isn't that big of a difference.
But when you're teenagers, maturity is a factor, and people generally tend to look down on it anyway.
Either way, I've never had a girlfriend who was younger then me, so I wouldn't know.

would if i had more options of girls that i connect with, id probably choose one of the girls my age i met on my visit to florida this summer before the girl here, but frankly people are so different up here and shes the only single choice for a relationship that would have any value. ive been single for 2 and a long years because of it.

well its not quite like that i mean i do like her, not in a way that says "oh our connection is perfect" but in a way that does at least make me feel partial to her. like its not like she could just be any other girl who likes me you know i like her for her, and part of the reason ive been single for this two years is because ive constantly been looking for a girl with as good a connection as i had with my last girlfriend, the kind where you talk for hours and hours daily and never run out of things to say. and while this place is a desert as far as thats concerned i still cant help but to blame myself partially and that mindset i had. so its like this time im going on a whim of how i feel because at this age i dont quite need a perfect relationship i just need experience with lots of types of girls so i know better what im looking for.

Ehh. I get what you're saying, but I don't know. If you have the kind of connection with her that you want, then go for it, or at least see how it plays out. oh i should point out that, i asked a cop, and by maryland law, you're allowed to date a 16 year old when you're 18 (no younger though), but you're just not allowed "sexual relations" with her. however the implications of the term "sexual relations" can be bent, and depending on the judge could apply to several things less than sex i bet.

I know you said this was not your intention, but a lot of states have what are deemed Romeo and Juliet laws that differeniate 18 and 19 year olds from actual adults. At 18 and 19 people have not fully matured and are still kids. The point of statutory rape was to prevent 40 year olds from having sex with 16 year olds. Also, states have ages set that kids can legally decide to have sex without repercussions to either party. Just a little knowledge for you.

This seems to be a common reaction, my boyfriend's dad blew up on him a few days ago for exactly the same thing. I haven't met him yet so I'm planning on just meeting him and showing him that I'm a mature, intelligent individual and that he doesn't have to worry. It definitely helps that she was the one to initiate it instead of you, that eliminates a lot of the creepy since it's not like you're searching for underage girls. If you're not looking for sex I don't think there's anything wrong with looking for an emotional connection.

If you're gonna wait until she's of age before having sex, just get rid of her now. Chances are that you probability won't enter into any kind of serious relationship with her, and in the end either she will dump you and you'll feel like shit for a few days, or you'll dump her and feel as if she has been a complete waste of your time. So if you can't have any fun with her (though I don't know if BJ's and whatnot are out of the question), just save yourself the trouble of having to live up to another person's expectations.
Or you could enter the relationship and be with her for the simple reason that you think you'll grow as a person because of it or some of that Nickelodeon silliness, but if that's the case then you'd probably be better off just reading some acclaimed novel that supposedly examines the human self in profound ways or something like that.

I don't think it's too much of an age difference if you guys get along really well, but the thing is most people grow up a lot throughout highschool. If you don't see a maturity difference its probably not because she's mature, it's probably because you haven't done enough of that high school growing up yet.

the same girls who were drama queens in high school are the ones having empty party sex weekly and view the dating scene as a competition between other girls in college. they're the ones who treat their social lives like a giant game without much regard to how it affects their friends and even the importance of the relationships they cultivate with other people. and they're the same kinds who are DO NOT WANT on my list regardless of whether they are college or high school. ellie is not one of those kinds.
but the schooling does create an uncomfortable gap in other ways. maybe it wont be an issue just regarding her, but the groups of high school people i'll be associated with by being her boyfriend may not be the kind i'll really want to hang out with.

Along the same lines, at this age, is 6 years too much of an age difference? I've always throught that 3 years was my limit, but, I recently met a guy who is 26, and really awesome. For once a guy I like actually likes me as well, but, I'm worried that we'll just be at different places in life. Plus, he's moving to Nevada in November. I don't think he's doing it to go met banned so much as that would just be a bonus. He's just bored before going back to school, and wants to annoy people as much as he can. From what I've told him about the site, he knows he can do that through bright colored fonts, bad spelling, liking "bad" bands, and being a fan of McCain (which he actually is in real life). He's like, humm, I have nothing to do, i should try to get banned on AP. Luckily, I didn't tell him how to actually get banned (like what sort of stuff people are usually banned for), he just knows how to annoy people. Honestly though, he's a cool kid when he isn't being an asshole in the internet. Even though I know he deserves all the shit he's getting, it's still hard for an older sister to see people treat her younger brother like that.

Mmm... I'm here because I'm bored - but that's less "oh, it's summer" and more "I have no life - how can I appear to have one on the internet?"
And so I'm here and managing not to get banned (as much as a couple of users might like to see that happen), somehow maintaining an insane rate of posting. It really doesn't feel like that much to me.
As for all the shit your brother's getting, he knows that it's because he's not being serious, so what people are saying is no real reflection upon him. Because of this, he'll learn to accept and laugh off negative things being said about him and it will be character building.
I get a lot of stuff like that both here and IRL, but it's fine with me because I can laugh at myself better than most people can laugh at me, so it's great. Well, not great, but it's easy to deal with.

Honestly, I was in your same boat a few years ago. I had just started college, and had basically no life. So, I resorted to posting here, and began posting an insane amount pretty quickly. Before long I was addicted, and posted every chance I got. It went on like that for about a year or so, but, then my life sort of fell into place, and I relied less upon this place. I still post here all the time, but, I'm sure soon enough life will start working out for you too.
And, yes, it's the internet. People like to be mean. You can't take stuff like that seriously, because most of the time, they have no basis for what they are saying. People don't know you, and probably never will. Not that it doesn't still hurt sometimes, even if you know it's false, but, it's good i guess in that you build a thick skin.

Hell, I'm mean on the internet too - that's the point right? Well, actually, I do it because I like making quips at every opportunity. I slowed down a lot once I hit 10k the other week, but I'm still maintaining my posts per day (which, whilst still being high by most standards, is still a long way down from the 400+ per day I was doing in the week leading up to my 10k) and managing to find some other things to do with my time.
I can't wait for college though - a new start - it'll be great. Oh, that and the learning, of course =P But I really do think that I'll be much better suited to college than to regular school life.

because the school I really want to transfer to is in Nashville. but I never it see on a lot of bands' tour dates and I know it's never on my favorite band's tours. and I feel like I would really miss going to shows if I went to school there, but I really want to go.

Well Nashville is a lot better than Memphis, they have this place called Rocket Town where a lot of bands play. I mean, still there are places who get way more shows that Nashville, but compared to Memphis it's awesome.
I would say go for it, there are a lot of shows in Nashville, and most bands go there, you just might have to wait a tour or two. haha

I think this kind of goes along with a maturity thing... It's one of those things where it's a gray area. If only both of you were 2 years older, then it wouldn't seem as weird.
Catch my drift?

This too. It seems like the bigger the age difference, the less one another can understand each other. I've dated people who have been 2 years older, and 2 years younger, and there's definitely a big difference in the way they handled things.

random subject change I just found this article...
http://news.scotsman.com/alcoholandbingedrinking/Warning-over-alcohol-through-eye.2552924.jp
apparently people drink alcohol through their eyes and gets you drunk faster??
that's crazy... the things people would do to get hammered... I heard (and this is pretty messed up but I swear it's true) that if you stuck beer up your ass you could get so drunk that you'd probably die...

I agree, I had no clue how to say it until I say that video. haha
I just thought.... what if the album has guest vocals from her? I swear I'll kill myself. haha
What video?
But yeah, Ashlee guest vocals would be pretty hilarious
In fact, I'd quite like to hear that.
hah. for a second, i thought you meant me.
Pfft, you're so self-absorbed.
j/k

this, i know, and am ready for. but right now she wants me, i dont want to be single, and we have a lot of fun together, so im gonna go for it.
sounds like you're doing it for the right reasons. the thing that sucks going into these relationships is that it's almost inevitable for one or both people to get hurt in the end.
