I have to agree, the Graduate is actually something pretty different. Sure they are still Pop Punk but you can tell it has very definite differences besides Delay.

ive been saying these things about them since i joined this site and very few people are in line with my vibe. anhedonia was the only pop-punk album with substance and depth and good writing since say anything's IARB in 2005.

Meh I disagree somewhat but considering I mainly listen to Pop Punk, any little differences in the music seem magnified to me.

thats how i was a year ago, when anhedonia came out, and even then i said nothing else was good in the genre after IARB. i cant stand any of this new shit be it panic at the disco or red jumpsuit apparatus or all time blow or cunt is what we aim for or boys look like girls etc. etc. some of that shit is even more repulsive than modern mainstream rap.

I have to agree with the exception of All Time Low. I think they make pretty enjoyable, fun listening music. That is all they claim to be and that is all they are. At least they are honest about it...

hahhaah no i didnt? that was you skim reading my paragraph about lyrics, in which i actually said, the lyrics are the only unimpressive part of the band, and that corey's lyrics suck. ive told you this twice already.

oh. well this is a huge exception lol. but i think im mostly talking about new bands. when i think the early november, i put them in with the stuff that came out between 2000 to 2005 and was actually good. but even before 2005 a lot of the stuff on fueled by ramen and victory records started to suck so my boundaries are variable.

This album is definitely in my top 5 all year. Which when it first came out I didn't expect it at all but it s an awesome album.

meh. they're not as bad as all time low but they're nothing special. they have that thin, "we write this music because its cool but we're not actually passionate about it" sound to them. like i dont feel any SUBSTANCE in those bands, nor any honest emotion at all.

But yeah there is huge reason why Pop Punk has started sucking ass and it has everything to do with commercialization and consumerism. It blows but it had to happen sometime, after the big "underground" bands started leaking into the mainstream.

labels saw that little girls liked fall out boy and started finding bands like fall out boy, but with more of that little girl appeal. one thing led to another and now we have boy bands and disney bands with guitars. more or less the same thing that happened with scene post-hardcore music, and started with thursday who were an actually good band.

tbh the music we're specifically talking about was never pop-punk to begin with. we just use that term because they dont have a genre name for it, and it sort of makes sense i mean they do sound like pop and punk thrown in a blender, but unfortunately thats not waht pop-punk means. pop-punk is just punk with a little pop thrown on top.
