Despite being absolutely crushed by the critics and acheiving the first and only 1.1 user rating on IMDB, the House of Payne series continues to pinch out episodes.
So, who wants to hate on this show?
What personally annoys me the most is how they play the laugh track literally every 2-5 seconds even though no funny jokes arise.

so funny, it doesn't need a thread
I despise this show, especially how the commercials refer to it as the most popular sitcom ever or some shit

You are a preppy white kid. You are far from the demo they are going for.
This show was pitched on a script and guaranteed 100 episodes on that alone. Props to TP for that.

It's because anything Tyler Perry makes will be watched.

I've never ever seen it because I'm not black
Tyler Perry is not Martin Luther King Jr. Somebody needs to tell him that.

The commercials call it the most popular sitcom on cable. I can't actually think of any other sitcoms on a cable channel. I guess if you're the only one, you're automatically the best.

That one makes sense too. Sorry, I try to avoid those commercials.

There was actuallly a statistical imploration of said demographic. African Americans, as a consensus, said they didn't enjoy the show but supported it in light of it being a black comedy on a national stage. I can't disagree with that motive but it doesn't change just how awful the show is.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Curb Your Enthusiam or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are cable sitcoms since FX is a network channel and HBO doesn't come standard.

I usually think of sitcoms as having a laugh track. I consider those to just be comedy shows.

Psych and Monk aren't sitcoms...they are just comedy shows. It's like, you wouldn't call Chuck a sitcom.

I watched House of Payne once, a full episode and it didn't surprise me how typical of a show it was.

eh.. i guess i'll concede those two. they still have sitcom elements but i guess you wouldn't call them that.

Not actually seen it as I live in the UK (but it will prob be on Trouble in no time) love the IMDB reviews there worth a read. One starts:
"Words cannot capture just how bad this show really is. It probably sets black culture back 50 years"

This show is more generic than the music to which I am partial.
And I like me some generic fucking music.

I usually love Tyler Perry. but this show is just fueling stereotypes. His movies like Why Did I Get Married and the Madea movies are good, but he sunk very low with House of Payne.

I admire Tyler Perry for trying to make good clean enterainment that has a positive impact on black culture and sheds good light on it. The problem is tho, he sucks, really badly, I've maybe watched one episode of House of Payne, and seen some of his movies on tv, and theres no balance between comedy and drama, I mean there will be a heavy dramatic scene, with a father and son fighting, and during this tense scene, the grandparents kept coming in and out and acting all goofy and comical. It was like, should I be laughing or should I be caught up in the drama???? While that might be his style, it completely lacks structure in my opinion. Regardless of being talentless, he's got a huge following so he's got nothing to worry about.

I'll stick with Fresh Prince and Home Improvement.
