Under Spinning Lights (Emotronic/Powerpop/Pop Punk)

Hey all, new to AP as i just registered but long time lurker. I post on other forums alot more and never took the time regi here yet =\

anyway, i discovered this band Under Spinning lights. They're pretty new but they're awesome IMO and i thought i'd share with you guys to either check out or hate however y'all love to hate even though i like when people are nice haha.

They only got 1 unmastered version of a song "remember when" up right now that they've had up for like 2 weeks but according to blogs, videos, and bulletins they are finishing recording their EP the 16th through the following week and the full EP should be out very soon! (so psyched) other sites like their purevolume are under construction apparently

They seem to be growing kinda fast for the fact they haven't even played a show yet and that's pretty awesome in my opinion because they are so sick and deserve it.

and the best part about them is they seem to be such cool dudes, they're so down with their fans and try to get to every single person that talks to them whether on their page or wherever....IMO it's real hard to find more than a handful of bands that don't act like their shit doesn't stink, and i hate that, which is another plus with these guys

And the guy kneeling in the front is way lighter than the rest of the guys and the umbrella should be blocking the light above them, as well as the guy who is punching's fist. And the guy punching just doesn't fit into the picture and just doesn't look right in comparison to the guy with the umbrella. Looks as if they're doing fine on their own. Metro Station has almost 5,000,000 plays on their crappy ass single doesn't make it any better. If you want to be honest this picture is better or on par with the photo's signed bands use and considering most labels have their bands go to studios to take the pictures where they get their photos taken by a prof photographer and have people whose job is nothing more than to edit the pictures while making sure it doesn't appear to edited... these kids obviously used what resources that were available to them at the stage they are at and did more than an acceptable job in comparison to the droves of I mac and snapshot photos you see some other bands using ....also it appears about the size of a thumbnail on myspace so scrutinizing the details doesn't seem to make any sense ... as far as you feeling that they sound generic that is your opinion but realize that every band that has a thread on here somewhere and on that thread you will find a post just like yours about how they are generic ... come on if you want to talk about originality why don't you try having some.... look you are entitled to whatever opinion you want to have but you decided to post that opinion on a thread that was intended to help these kids out... so whatever hatred you're receiving is warranted ... I listen to as much pop as i do hardcore/screamo stuff. Probably more in fact. Two of the albums I've listened to more than anything else this summer are Every Avenue's and Mercy Mercedes'. I know that this band is ridiculously generic, you can't discount my opinion just because you think I only listen to heavier stuff.

Hey all, new to AP as i just registered but long time lurker. I post on other forums alot more and never took the time regi here yet =\

anyway, i discovered this band Under Spinning lights. They're pretty new but they're awesome IMO and i thought i'd share with you guys to either check out or hate however y'all love to hate even though i like when people are nice haha.

They only got 1 unmastered version of a song "remember when" up right now that they've had up for like 2 weeks but according to blogs, videos, and bulletins they are finishing recording their EP the 16th through the following week and the full EP should be out very soon! (so psyched) other sites like their purevolume are under construction apparently

They seem to be growing kinda fast for the fact they haven't even played a show yet and that's pretty awesome in my opinion because they are so sick and deserve it.

and the best part about them is they seem to be such cool dudes, they're so down with their fans and try to get to every single person that talks to them whether on their page or wherever....IMO it's real hard to find more than a handful of bands that don't act like their shit doesn't stink, and i hate that, which is another plus with these guys

If you want to be honest this picture is better or on par with the photo's signed bands use and considering most labels have their bands go to studios to take the pictures where they get their photos taken by a prof photographer and have people whose job is nothing more than to edit the pictures while making sure it doesn't appear to edited... these kids obviously used what resources that were available to them at the stage they are at and did more than an acceptable job in comparison to the droves of I mac and snapshot photos you see some other bands using ....also it appears about the size of a thumbnail on myspace so scrutinizing the details doesn't seem to make any sense ... as far as you feeling that they sound generic that is your opinion but realize that every band that has a thread on here somewhere and on that thread you will find a post just like yours about how they are generic ... come on if you want to talk about originality why don't you try having some.... look you are entitled to whatever opinion you want to have but you decided to post that opinion on a thread that was intended to help these kids out... so whatever hatred you're receiving is warranted ... Trolling around absolute punk making fun of bands is easy but it amounts to little more than you aggravating people like me (and personally once i sign off this will be the farthest thing from my mind) ... the band is gaining notoriety just by this thread.....so really what was the point

I'm pretty sure I can judge what they sound like based on their picture. It's the same reason certain bands today use certain letter. Certain lettering and merch designs because kids will listen to them solely based on that because the picture, the font and the merch all tell what the music will sound like that. well this got ridiculous pretty fast... i just want to clarify that i'm in the band and the only one who posts on this website although not for long it seems. i don't have any problem with people not liking our music or labeling us as generic because in truth everyone is entitled to their opinion, and what you may consider generic or trendy may very well be music someone else likes, in fact generic doesn't bother me because i have no problem admitting i do in fact listen to several very generic bands and will continue listening to them long after they lose "popularity" what does bother me as a musician who has been drumming for 10+ years however, is the lack of respect for what other people do. In all honesty i may not like how another band sounds but i'll respect anyone whose out there doing what they love to do. (i.e. yeah that's not really my thing but it's cool that you guys have a good time with it) We play a certain style of music because we like it not because we have any preconceived notions of what's popular and what will get us "signed" --something i care very little about. Together Ryan and Erics Vocals create a likness similar to that of Simon and Garfunkel. Slowly but surley they are creating a new genre in the music world. There new EP can be considered the Sgt Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band of our time. They are the best thing that has come out of Long Island in a long time, and as an active music listener i can say with pride that on my Itunes i have 3000 + listens on each song. I even recently got a hold of Eric and Dan's old band The Pastime Cd. WOW. If anyone in the world wants to reach nirvana by one cd i will personally come to your house and play it for you.

You honestly don't know what an opinion is? To you they may sound unoriginal but not to the entire world... Some people may agree with you some won't it's just how life is don't ask me I didn't make the rules. Myspace plays tell you how many listens they get a day I don't get how that is refuted. Also you don't know this band nor do you know what's going on with them.
