I know this is the second thread I've made tonight, but bear with me. I'm been spinning Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome a ton lately, after recommending it to someone. George Clinton is absolutely brilliant. Any fans?

I actually kind of prefer Bootsie to the P funk crew.

I haven't heard any Bootsy's Rubber Band yet, but I know the Horny Horns are on the albums so I'm definitely checking that out soon.

important band that impacted on many cool modern artists, but i always had a tough time getting into them for some reason. even now, not much of their material sticks with me. not to say they're bad or anything haha, just another me thing

This is true. I'm glad this thread got bumped without me having to do it. I want to find more youtube videos now... definitely a band better live.

Listening to One Nation Under a Groove for the first time. So good. The title track is one of the greatest party records ever.

One Nation is great and was my first introduction to Funkadelic, "Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!" is one of my favorite songs of all time. In fact Funkadelic would dominate a list of my favorite tracks.

"Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad" is a bit unpleasantly gross, though.

Yeah that track really bothered me the first few times I listened to it/still does occasionally.

So far, both of the Funkadelic albums I've heard has one song I would much rather wasn't part of the record.

The other one is "Jimmy's Got a Little Bit of Bitch in Him" I'm guessing?

Yeah it could be taken off of Standing on the Verge of Getting It On and I wouldn't miss it, but because of its short length it never seriously detracted from the album for me. I'm probably a little biased though; they're one of my favorite bands with some of my favorite albums.

Maggot Brain to Can You Get to That might be one of the better song duos of all time, just sayin.

I'm a big fan. There's something about funk music that makes your body move.

Seriously though, how awesome a one-two punch is "Maggot Brain" and "Can You Get to That?"
