But this was no normal orgy it consisted of only dogs and him.

It's good I think. It's a lot slower though. It's not really for people who are huge fans of the classic Used albums (In Love and Death and S/T)

For someone whose taste often gets called "boring" (which is false. Neutral Milk Hotel is not boring, no matter what my lame friends say), I couldn't stand Artwork. I kept wondering when it would end, and I was actually surprised to see that I was only on song five and that it wasn't almost over. I was just not feeling it.

I love all of their records, each one is equally as good as the other, in a different way. Lies for the Liars was totally pissed off but had all those nice songs on it, the self titled was just great and awesome to jam to, and artwork is perfection. great guitar and everything. In love and death isn't my favorite, but it's still damn well put together

It depends on your taste in music I guess. Artwork(their latest) is heavier.
Their self titled in one of my favorite albums though.
I would say start in the beginning.
This might be the only band I would say to listen to in that order lol.

Maybe Memories, Box Full of Sharp Objects, Blue and Yellow, The Taste of Ink. All great songs.

I think Lies for the Liars was their worst album. They released a B-Sides album after LiesFTL with older tracks/new tracks which was better than the album itself.

Damn, Bert is a shell of his former self. Like Adam Lazarra, he blew up in his waist and ruined his voice over the years.

I can look past the guts, but seeing Bert pass up the screaming parts makes me uncomfortable. I can only imagine what it feels like for him to scream and I feel queezy.

This next album is a make or break for me. Artwork, while not completely solid, had it's moments. I just think their new drummer needs top up his game and play interesting things (maybe I'm judging too hard since I'm a drummer, but Brenden always played cool shit). Jeph and Quinn totally stole the show with that last album.

On April 29, 2010, The Used stated on their website that they intend on releasing their fifth studio album before the end of the year. Regarding their canceled inclusions in Europe, Russia and the UK due to parting ways with their management team, The Used announced:

"We will reschedule these shows as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have begun writing and recording for our upcoming album. We look forward to returning with a new album and tour dates soon."

However, since this blog post was released, apparent conflicts with their management and record label have meant that the new album is now likely to be released in Summer/Autumn 2011.

In an interview with Smartpunk.com, Drummer Dan Whitesides revealed that the band had parted ways with Reprise Records (joking about "firing" them) and were currently searching for another record label; though he claims also to look into possibility of remaining unsigned for their upcoming fifth album. He also announced that The Used are now under new management (referring to them as 'Keith and John'). The 4-piece band is understood to have started recording tracks for their currently un-named album at John Feldman's (producer of the first three albums) residence.

Well, not every band. But, most bands that do "heavy" music.

After seeing it live it made me love the song so much more than I already did. If they ever tour again (assuming they will after they release Vulnerable) try to see them. Probably one of the best bands to see live.

Thats crazy. I guess it's not that surprising, his scream was just so intense back then. It still blows me away how much power and intensity he had behind his scream.

another thing about the used is that they are given credit for creating a new genre of music becuase of how unique they are plus bert is considered another kurt conbain...if the used were generic as people on this forum claim and were the same as all these other bands they mention, the fanbase would be bigger but because htey are so unique and different from every band that is out there, most people hear it and don't like it beause its so different from anything they ever heard, they can't handle it and say its bad when the reality is, its something so special, amazing, and perfectly unique and beautiful

What really ended up happening, I think, was that after In Love And Death, Feldmann started using the same style/techniques on other bands production. Personally, I think he is the perfect producer for The Used, and I'm very happy he produced Vulnerable.

i think you're reading the wrong forum topics because i find that most of the people on here have quite an eclectic taste in music. there's threads about jazz music, classical music, hardcore, punk, pop, country, metal, etc... there's a lot of open-minded people who aren't looking to just argue. there are some really intelligent and interesting people on this message board. maybe explore around some more, and you'll see that.

but either way, The Used started out as a poppy/punk/hardcore band. their first album is insanely pop oriented, it just has some screaming mixed in with it. and i do agree with you actually that The Used and Feldmann's production actually sparked up bands like Story Of The Year, and whoever else Feldmann produced. i think his production style is "over-produce as much as possible, and then take it one step further, and then it's good!" but for some bands, that works. the only problem with that though is that the band's can't really re-create the songs live, unless they have a backing track or a hoaky string quartet or whatever touring with them.

i'm rambling. but really, i'm not here to make war. i love these message boards for the most part. you should take a look around more. xoxoxoxo

The Used is one of my favorite bands but they're not as unique as you think, dude. Also you'd be surprised at how much music ranges in genre on this site.
