I went in there the other day looking for the Carcass - Heartwork reprint (they were out) and the friendly store employee asked me if I enjoyed death metal and rec'd me Whitechapel instead.

LOL?

Our Hot Topic has about 50 Reinventing Axl Rose copies and nothing else. And with the rest of the store they seem a little out of place.

HAHAHA.

I was looking at CD's at a hot topic, and some kid came up to me and pointed to the My Children My Bride CD and said it was br00tal and I should get it. I looked him in the eye's and said I'll stick with Converge.

hahaha yeah nothing against the associate because he was actually reasonably helpful but come on, if i came in looking for a specific death metal record that is drastically better than anything else they sell am I going to not know that whitechapel sucks??

lol. The only music I've bought at Hot Topic was an overpriced Reinventing Axl Rose vinyl.

I remember when there was actually a time I'd be able to find a decent tee at Hot Topic. hmm.

also, the people at the store had no clue about the Finch EP. one of them was shoked to find out they got back together

i personally love the selection there, well, in the section that i look in, that is. to the right we find nothing but black tees with gross br00tal metal designs.

:highfive:
we know how it goes!

it's funny though, because i'm not goth or scene at all, but when i tell people that hot topic is really the only place i buy tees, they just assume. :-d

I tried entering one, thinking it was an actual music store. Sadly enough, my local HT had only one aisle of albums. The rest of the store was clothes- mostly shitty overpriced tees.

Are you just really stupid or is this a lame pick-up attempt? Every Hot Topic has the same layout...it's like it's some kind of national chain or something.

While we're on the subject: fuck Hot Topic. They're largely responsible for the popularity of this mediocre, homogeneous trash you see so much of today.

All of the Hot Topics around me switched from having decent pop-punk (more or less) to being all fake screamo and metal and shit. I was bummed. That and I also grew up a bit, but I did find some sweet shirts there a year or so ago.

My hot topic=fail. Super expensive t-shirts + Shitty "emo" bands and scenester Pop Punk. Oh yeah it is bad. I did find an Alkaline Trio shirt there. It was a miracle.

Hot Topic is not responsible for the "medicore trash" you see today, the people that buy into it are.

Hot Topic is strange. we dont have it in australia but i went to one in LA last year. there were no CD's, all the shirts were in a big mess all over the floor and there were two 8 year olds asking their mum if they could get a 'The Used' window sticker for her car.
it was odd.

I've bough 2-3 Shirts from there, But unfournately I've quit
1) They are pretty overpriced
2) All the "emo" and "scene" kids that live here shop at HT and so everyone has the same shirts so I be uniqie and buy from the internet. Plus its cheaper. I got my Blink-182 Shirt from Ebay for $10 and my DanceGavinDance shirt from Merchnow.com for $12 xD

But i did buy a belt and a pair of pants from there. The Belt is kinda Big but the Jeans are COMPHY, evne if they are $30

 I always thought it was a decent place to get band t's outside of the internet and shows, so I don't see what's so wrong with supporting your favorite bands in a very convenient way. And I had no idea that you could only enjoy music in a certain stage of your life. Hmm

What's wrong with wearing band tshirts over the age of 17 or 21 for that matter? If you still like the band and ou still listen to music...who cares??

There's nothing like dropping $25 on a "vintage" t-shirt that mines the wave or "ironic nostalgia" with youth pop culture artifacts from the late '80s to mid '90s.

No, seriously hun, that Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger t looks super Indie Chic on you. Throw a blazer over it. I think there's a "vintage" blazer in the back of the store too. Only $60.
