A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers

I'm halfway through reading this book for the second time, and felt like posting here about it. Sorry if there's already been a thread about it.

Dave Eggers writes really well, I think it's a great book. For those who haven't heard of it, it's a memoir. The back of the book is titled "Mistakes We Knew We Were Making" (which probably inspired the title of the Straylight Run song, as it's Nolan's favourite book) which contains "Notes and Corrections" and the like.

Definately pick it up if you want something new to read.

The best thing is that you can stop reading and come back at any time. You don't have to read chapter to chapter. It just rocks as a random read.

i agree, this book is awesome, i picked it up and didn't really know what to expect, but it is very well written, at times it is heartbreaking, but the whole time it is interesting, great read...

I've never read it, but damn could the author have come up with a more narcissistic title?

i'm not sure but i think the title is intended as a joke. and after reading the book, he doesn't seem to really believe the title, nonetheless, his life is rather extriordinary, so maybe he did kinda mean it, i don't know, either way, read it and find out for yourself, they say you can't judge a book by its cover and you can't judge it by it's title either.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't exactly see why it was "Heartbreaking"

did you read the book? his mom died, he was left to take care of his brother, his magazine ended up failing. geez, what did you want, some kinda tragic accident, i bet you are someone who pulls over on the side of the road to watch accidents... sometimes you gotta put yourself in another persons shoes... good luck with that...

You know what other book is fucking amazing?

"I Know This Much Is True"

I didn't read it for so long because it was so plugged by Oprah and I just assumed it was some uber-emotional book that mom's would love. But then I finally did read it and it was incredible.
