Okay ive been listening to Northstar all morning and I was thinking about how a few years ago Adam Lazzara had announced to the Bamboozle audience that Northstar was a better band than Taking Back Sunday. I'm curious to see whether or not anyone believes this.

why would anyone believe anything adam lazzara says

Well, seeing that TBS had two albums, and Northstar had two albums, this can be difficult.

TBS had 3. LN just sucks and nobody cared about it. It's a battle between the now overrated and the underrated.

Nobody. It's just significant that Adam Lazzara thinks someone is better than Adam Lazzara.

LN doesn't count.

Supposedly Northstar was a primary source of inspiration for the TBS album TAYF, via Triple Crown Recs/Brand New for you crazy kids that look up release dates.

They're too different to compare IMO. I will say that Northstar will have longer staying power with me because of the lyrical content is less...high school.

Northstar is so much more mature than TBS. TBS is like kids' shit. Lazzara can't come up with a good lyric anymore and Torres doesn't write lyrics that aren't pure poetry.

Yeah in the booklet for TAYF it says that Northstar is the greatest band ever. i could never get sick of their music though. TBS...it got old. TAYF is amazing but its the only record i like by them and i still rarely listen to it. I still adore Northstar's music just as much as i did the day Pollyanna came out and i will never stop listening to it.

TBS, Tell All Your Friends eclipses anything Northstar has done, even if TBS has gone downhill since then

For me, Taking Back Sunday is just that band I find myself listening to because the music is always comforting and welcoming. I honestly like everything they have put out so far so my pick is obviously TBS.

funny, I figured Northstar would shit all over TBS in this poll...

TAYF > pollyanna > WYWTB

very slight differences between them too. but with TAYF already being better than anything northstar did, and with WYWTB having a totally fresh sound and distinctive mood, i gotta say TBS is better. both TAYF and pollyanna deserve to be reckoned as two of the top five fake pop-punk records though.

Cassino's amazing. im disappointed though. i kind of liked some of the demos over the master tracks, but when i moved my music to my laptop i lost the demos. :-(

Northstar is undeniably poetry to music of debatable calibur...but it ranges from good to amazing. TBS is good music but their lyrics aren't in the same category as northstar.

As for lasting power, northstar wins.

Northstar easy. Lyrically it's no contest; Nick Torres is among the best lyricists of the bands that are mentioned on this site. On WYWTB Adam Lazzara pretty obviously tries to emulate Nick Torres' singing style. NS wrote music that was more interesting and intricate than TBS, and also displayed better talent at their respective instruments (minus Fred, who's pretty legit). NS also displayed a greater range in song style. Long live Northstar.
