This show was excellent, with some minor gripes. First things first, the lineup and my rating of each performance.

The Color Morale - ???/10
Forever In A Day - 3/10
Empty Orchestra - 6.5/10
Chiodos - 9/10

The Color Morale
I only saw half of their set so I can't give a complete opinion on their performance. What I did see though was well done. The execution was tight and their fairly technical, slightly proggy screamo went over well with the crowd.

Forever In A Day
My low rating is based on two things: my opinion of their material and crowd reaction. Personally, I just can't get into straight pop music. Fans of The Mayday Parade, Metro Station or Boys Like Girls would probably dig them though, as they sound very similar. But what really matters is the crowd reaction, which was about as lively as a zombie taking a nap. 99% of the people (and there was a considerable crowd) stood, motionless, waiting for Chiodos. It was kind of upsetting to see people being so rude to another band performing just because they didn't come to see them, but it didn't bother me too much because, like I said, I didn't like their material.

Empty Orchestra
This was a very talented band. Their performance was spot on and I really enjoyed their style of music. They played alt-country type stuff with some surprisingly technical moments and a vocal style that I thought was great. They got docked three and a half points though, because once again the kids waiting for Chiodos gave no response to the opener. This time they took it even further though, and a number of kids were trying to heckle them and yelled for them to get off the stage. It was immature and rude, but it made pitting for Chiodos all the more fun because I was a little miffed at the people I was pushing and slamming into.

Chiodos
They played well and the set list was excellent. The worst part about their performance was their kid fans that couldn't figure out how to keep a circle clear for dancing and kept trying to mosh where people were swinging fists and feet.

Was anyone else there? Got impressions?

I take it that you don't have a Chiodos setlist? I know it's probably exactly the same thing it has been but that is the only reason I came in here.

I went to this venue around 3 years ago to see the audition play when they were first starting out...and this place was tiny...it was like a hooters with a bar and a very very tiny stage. Is it still the same? I found it weird that such a big band was playing at this place.

That'd be amazing to see Chiodos there.

This show was amazing. I've never been to this venue, or to Poplar Grove for that matter....I thought it was in such a random location, I really liked the venue though.

Seems like a fun show. Wish they were coming near me in the fall but they play in Orlando the day before my birthday so I can probably get some friends to come along with me to Orlando and it could be some sort of birthday present from them to me or something, haha.

I would have went, but ironically went to visit my parents in Chicago. This place is like walking distance from my house. I live in the middle of nowhere for the last 3 years and Chiodos comes to town the day I'm in Chicago.

Yeah basically the same set list they usually do, but I like it how they opened with "Best Friends", It does sound like a great place to see a band like Chiodos, I wouldnt of minded seeing them. I like Forever In A Day, I am surprised the crowd wasnt into them. They probably just wanted Chiodos to come on and didnt care.

Definately agree with everything you said about the crowd. I personally am a fan of Forever In A Day, I felt bad that the crowd wasn't too into their set. And if Craig didn't come out during, "Move In Slowly" my guess is that 80% of the people wouldn't have sang along. I wasn't a big fan of Empty Orchestra but the crowd wasn't even being appreciative or anything towards these guys. They aren't my first choice of music, but I gave them a chance, unlike half of the people there.

Yeah, it was shitty. I kinda felt bad for every band that wasn't Chiodos haha.

Your set list was spot on. No Hardcore Dancing was such a kickass encore. I really liked their picks from the new album as well.

Except some retarded kids were trying to mosh/dance to A Letter for Janelle...that song begs for a lighter.

My ears are still ringing.

I think FIAD wasn't heavy enough for most of the people there. That and basically everyone was there just for Chiodos.

It was a sweet venue, I've been before and it amazed me that they were playing some bar in hick nowhere but it was close to the hick nowhere that I live at so woohoo. The last time I saw them was before Bone Palace released and it was at a small cafe in DeKalb called The House.

Wait...did you say the stupid kids trying to mosh were getting in the way of the hardcore dancing? That's one of the dumber things I've ever heard.

When I heard about this I thought it was interesting they picked poplar grove of all places in Illinois to play then again we get some somewhat big names come through my town alot as of recent so nothing is impossible, but anyway thats awesome they played there I really like Chiodos and hope to see them some day.
