I myself am not a drinker, however I've wondered for a long period of my time, why do my peers drink? I've never really understood it because I see no fun in vomitted, passing out, not remembering what you did the night before, feeling like shit the day after or any of those things that come along with drinking. I've never quite understood, so help me out here...if you drink, why do you do it?

I'm not trying to be some kind of asshole with this thread, I'm honestly wondering why people drink because I just don't get it.

I don't drink, but it's pretty obvious that it is fun to be drunk, and the hangover is well worth it if you had fun that night.

Funny story:

My friends used to make fun of me for not drinking, but one night they drove home drunk, and got into a car accident. I couldn't help but think to myself "That's what you get for fucking with me.".

I think most people drink out of boredom, it makes parties a lot more interesting. I'm not really a heavy drinker, but every now and then I will get shitfaced and do something stupid. But it can lead to fun times....

I drink because I want to. I enjoy it. It's fun. I don't do it to be cool, or to fit in with my friends, because alot of them don't drink, and that's fine. People who don't drink, and people who do drink are both cool by me. Be yourself, do what you want. Same goes with drugs, it's all fine by me what you choose to do.

Anyways, drinking is fun. I don't need alcohol to have a good time, but I drink anyways. I'm always a happy-go-lucky, fun guy who always manages to have a good time, but drinking just makes things even more fun. If you've never been drunk, than you wouldn't understand this, so there's no point in trying to figure it out. It's something you need to experience first-hand to understand. Sure, you do stupid things, but that's fun. Being stupid is fun.

Personally, when I drink, i'm instantly in a good mood. Even though i'd likely be in just as good of mood if I wasn't drinking. Being drunk just makes everything seem more fun. And by the way, not everyone pukes after drinking. I never once have, and i've downed alot of alcohol in my day. I usually don't remember what happened the night before the next morning, but that's fine by me. If something went wrong the night before, you won't remember it the next day. What's so bad about that ? Sounds pretty damn good, if you ask me.

Basically, for me, drinking just increases the fun. I never vomit from it. I never get headaches in the next day. I've never been hungover. I've never passed out. On top of that, it 100% guarantees that I have good time. So for me, it's all positives.

I guess I have a lot of anemosity toward it when I see so many college students everyday and people in my high school doing it for the sheer purpose of being "cool" and being able to brag about it the next day. I get so fuckin' sick and tired of hearing "I got so wasted...(proceed with story)".

I also have a lot of anemosity towards it when girls on my team are disrespecting me and the rest of my team by drinking during our season because if you're caught you miss 1/4 of the total games for the year, thus screwing over our whole team.

I don't drink because 3 out of 5 of my closest friends have lost parents due to alcohol. My friend Pat was actually a mistake. His mom got drunk at a party, had sex with some random dude and had him. His whole family is fucked bc of that. My best friend rob lives with me bc his mom and dad are in alcohol and drug rehab. I just dont drink out of respect for them and bc i know im not responsible enough yet to do it without getting hooked. I go to parties all the time though (like almost every night) just to hang out and chill with people. I really have no problem with other people drinking, to each their own.

Yeah, every bad thing you mentioned only happens when you don't drink smart. Drinking way too much or mixing WAY too many kinds of drinks can definitely lead to puking. I know, I have puked a few times in my day. But I've never had a hangover, and that I am glad for (though most of a hangover's effects are due to dehydration, so if you're smart and drink a lot of water once you have stopped consuming alcohol, you'll be fine in the morning). Anyways, being drunk is fun, it's something you can't really describe to good with words, plus everyone is different. For me, I am instantly more sociable once I have a buzz, and just everything is better. Certain parts of my body start to feel numbish (my face, particularly), and food tastes way better.

Here's an anecdote for you, not really related to the effects of alcohol. Last night I went to a party where there was a guy we were calling "30 Beers Joe" (or "The Legend") because he had started drinking around 2 pm and was trying for 30. He was on 29 when I left, and didn't look too bad, so I assume he got it. Also, his little brother was there, and we called him "15 Beers Tony" (or "Half the Legend").

I drink because usually I am very shy and reserved person, and when I start drinking I'll actually go up and talk to people or be able to carry on a conversation. Yeah I did something stupid when I was drunk once. I was in Morgantown and it was free drinks at this club. So I was taking shot after shot and about 2 hours later everything hit my pretty hard.. so we are walking up a fucking mountain and I started puking all over myself. Anyways, drinking is fun. I don't need alcohol to have a good time, but I drink anyways. I'm always a happy-go-lucky, fun guy who always manages to have a good time, but drinking just makes things even more fun. If you've never been drunk, than you wouldn't understand this, so there's no point in trying to figure it out. It's something you need to experience first-hand to understand. Sure, you do stupid things, but that's fun. Being stupid is fun.

Personally, when I drink, i'm instantly in a good mood. Even though i'd likely be in just as good of mood if I wasn't drinking. Being drunk just makes everything seem more fun. And by the way, not everyone pukes after drinking. I never once have, and i've downed alot of alcohol in my day. I usually don't remember what happened the night before the next morning, but that's fine by me. If something went wrong the night before, you won't remember it the next day. What's so bad about that ? Sounds pretty damn good, if you ask me.

Basically, for me, drinking just increases the fun. I never vomit from it. I never get headaches in the next day. I've never been hungover. I've never passed out. On top of that, it 100% guarantees that I have good time. So for me, it's all positives.
well thats good, for me it's the total opposite, when i'm drunk, i'm mean and angry. I always puke, i always get hang overs, and i always get head aches, that's why i don't drink. But i can tell you kara, that if i didn't get headaches, if i didn't get mean, and if i didn't throw up, i'd drink. I think drinking goes different with every person. I don't like it because i don't like the way it makes me feel, so i'd much rather smoke pot, because you get some of the same effects with out the hangover and the puking. :)

I think some people like to drink because they think it'll make everything more fun. In someways it does because it makes you more open and it'll let you do things you woulnd't normally do, but if you are already like that, you don't need to drink.

I've never really understood it because I see no fun in vomitted, passing out, not remembering what you did the night before, feeling like shit the day after or any of those things that come along with drinking.
