I can only really think of 2 right now that I really really like, which are American History X and Requiem For A Dream. The thing that makes these movies so great is that they show you the most extreme downsides of harmful behavior to basically teach a lesson and aren't afraid to give you a ending where no one has a happy ending.

After Singleton made a movie starring Tyrese I knew it was time for him to stop.

Fight Club speaks alot about what the lack of a strong father figure in a man's life can do and that materialism is the downfall of America.

Fight Club not only shows what a lack of a father figure can do and what being too materialistic can do but it also allows for the viewer/reader to view the struggles that a person struggling with mental problems go through.
This is definately a book too pick up... if you thought the movie was good and graphic definately check out the book. i couldn't put it down!

i mean realistic movies though. I just read Requiem For a Dream and though it is hard to get through all the poor grammar and run on sentences, it was quite a good read. Selby writes that way to give it a raw, street-level feel and it works quite effectively. good stuff. I wanna read Fight Club.

If you look hard enough any good movie really does have underlying "social morals" its just a matter of paying close attention, and it also really comes down to personal interpretation, I mean I may watch a movie and see say... The pressure society puts on people to conform in a movie, someone els may see it as Reasons why a person really shouldn't conform...

I would definately reccomend doing that. Palahniuk is amazing. hah I don't know how many times I've posted and mentioned something of his name, but I mean it every time. His style is strange, but everything he writes somehow captivates me.

I've read his stuff but after you read one book...things become predictable. Check out choke and lullaby too...the only book that can compete with fight club by him is Survivor

Really? I found Survivor to be my least favorite of his books that I've read. I've read Fight Club, Surivivor, Choke, and Lullaby, and recently I started reading Diary (but am still really early on, too early to tell how good it is). I still have Invisible Monsters sitting here, hopefully I'll get a chance to read it soon.
Palahniuk is probably my favorite author... even though he is definitely not the best writer out there, he has a very captivating style and I admire the research and thought he puts into his books.

The 25th Hour ... stars Edward Norton and Rosario Dawson.
Powerful stuff about taking responsibility for your actions and accepting the consequences.
