I'm a fan, but I definitly want to go at least 200 miles away.

And I hear the parties there suck

My friend's going to Santa Clara University in the Bay Area of California. I hear it's pretty nice.

I don't know how much different the Jesuit schools are from Providence College (Dominican Friars) but if they are alike it's not terrible. If you can deal with the theology classes and the overpowering religious ideals and thought processes you'll survive.

I went to Georgetown for a year... that's Jesuit correct?

Haha yeah, one the hardest to get in to.

eh, jesuits schools are just passive religious, they don't force it upon you

It's awesome, I would definitly go there but If you're out of state, it's impossible to get in to

It was an awesome school-- a little too upscale for me- i ended up hating it because of the fact that I never felt good enough by all the rich kids. I left after a year and, crazily enough, don't regret it for one second.

The best theology class I ever took was at Georgetown. The professor never forced anything upon us and really wanted us to look at the Bible in a completely different way then I had ever been asked to.

I had a class like that as well. I actually thoroughly enjoyed it because it opened my eyes then we had to do a research paper. Apparently the Friar who taught the class defined a research paper as one that only takes the side of the Catholic Church. I had some viewpoints that opposed the Church's view and he knocked some points off for that, it really turned me off from any other theology courses.

I just graduated from there in June. It shouldn't be that tough to get into from out of state. They've really been pushing geographic diversity lately. I'd definitely go to a Jesuit university again if I had to choose again (and I'm not very religious, it's almost a non-issue if you don't want it to be).

I have friends that go to Depaul in Chicago and a friend that go to SLU... both are jesuit and from what i understand both love their schools. SLU makes it hard to party on campus, but its still doable.

I go to LeMoyne which is a Jesuit school in Syracuse, NY. They dont push anything on you at all. I think one of the only things is that they made me take a religion and philosophy class, but that is more to become a well rounded student.

They visted my school because our president went there, I really like what they said. When I go to visit St. Bonaventure i'm going to visit LeMoyne.

It just seems that every kid nowadays has to be that 4.0 GPA, class president, quarterback, etc. to get into decent schools.

I'm just 3.1 GPA (but at a Jesuit school that only offers college prep courses.) However I am an eagle scout, and will have played for 4 yrs in Marching band and wind ensemble. I'm in a couple clubs and do a lot of community service.

I don't think that's getting me into CA schools, not to mention I haven't taken to SAT yet.

Ive heard being an Eagle Scout is huge for colleges. I like LeMoyne a lot...if you like the smaller school setting I would consider it for sure.

I def want to go to a school thats <8000 or so. Like OSU here with 60,000 kids is fucking ridiculous. I want to get to know my professor etc., and not have 500 other kids in the class. What the student:teacher ratio at LeMoyne?

I believe it is around 15-1. The biggest class I have ever had in my 3 years is maybe 30 kids, which I love. I can understand why some people would want to go to the huge school, but I am happy with my choice to go to a small school for sure.

give it a shot.
you'll have to do pretty well on your sat,
but cal schools aren't THAT difficult (even from out-of-state),
especially if its a private school
