I think they need a new thread that's not two years old.

Agreed. Park is phenomenal. I can't believe I've lived 45 minutes from their hometown my entire life and I never saw them once. They cancelled the one chance I would have had.
Also, a couple of the guys are in a new band called Wise And Burn that is really good.

I would be willing to say that the best bands in the vein of Park's genre, indie/real emo/what ever you wanna call it, call from IL.
Park
The Junior Varsity
The Forecast
Mike Kinsella ( American Football, Joan of Arc, Cap n Jazz, Owen, etc.)

The JV is one of my all time favorite bands. I've never really gotten into the Forecast as much as I probably should, but I like all the songs of theirs that I have from compilations, and my friend was in a video of theirs.
Where would you recommend starting with Kinsella stuff? I've heard so much about him but never really checked anything out.

Haha same TJV has to be my favorite band, Wide eyed is a modern classic for me. I've seen them like five times. It's a shame they broke up
American Football did it for me, and then I Got into cap n jazz. I'm not really a sucker for acoustic stuff, which is what owen is, but it might do the trick for you.
But it's kind of weird getting into this stuff so late. I'm 16 and got American Football's EP when I was 15, but I can see why so many 20 yr olds + like the Kinsella web of music
