Who?

This Texan quintet craft some pretty great indie rock that doesn’t borrow too heavily from any one source.

How is it?

It’s great! If Spoon were ever in need of a touring partner, Loxsly would be an excellent opening band (not that Spoon is ever short on touring partners). Their music is a tiny bit dark, a huge bit emotional, and thoroughly enjoyable. “Chopper” rides on simple piano chords but never loses its flair, and when the rest of the rest of the band comes in about halfway through, it’s a totally logical progression – not something formulaic or forced. Loxsly has got their songwriting down, and these four songs shine throughout; be sure to check out their 2005 full-length, Maps and Organs.
