Some leagues have started drafting already, so post your teams if you've drafted.

I drafted this team in an auction league last week just to get familiar with the set-up to be prepared for the AP one. I don't really expect to keep up with this team all year though.

QB - Peyton Manning
RB - Joseph Addai
RB - Laurence Maroney
RB/WR - TJ Houshmandzadeh
WR - Reggie Wayne
WR - Andre Johnson
TE - Tony Scheffler
D/ST - Oakland
K - Robbie Gould

Bench - Maurice Morris, Laveranues Coles, Bernard Berrian, Sammy Morris, Felix Jones, Derrick Mason, Kenny Watson

That's a murderers row at WR. I'd be happy going into battle with that team.

yeah, I probably spent too much of my $200 on them, but for a league I likely won't be paying attention to, it doesn't matter.

IcedOpethBlind

ive been targeting a few guys especially often in fantasy drafts this year...

cotchery (greg jennings TD potential)
parker (expecting TD's to go back up even with mendenhall in the fold, and hes still a yardage hog)
witten (low-tier WR1 #'s too much to pass up for a TE in the mid-4th+ round)
thomas jones (upgraded line, offense, i'd love him as a RB2 based on his current ADP)
jay cutler (my personal choice for breakout QB this year, still going relatively low in drafts ive partaken in this year, first few weeks may be abit dicey with marshall out, but after hes back, watch out)

sleeper

kevin walter (texans aerial attack looks fantastic heading into this season, ed mccaffrey potential)

IcedOpethBlind

well I picked Rudi, because I need atleast one Bengal on my team..and grabbed him with the last pick inhopes he will have a healthy return.

and I dont know why I put Stallworth on there, he is my backup..Santana Moss is my other starter..

RB - Rashard Mendenhall

WR - Roddy White
WR - Dwayne Bowe
TE - Jeremy Shockey
K - John Kasay
DST - Jaguars

Crocodile Logic
08/25/08, 08:21 AM
i had brees starting originally, but figured he usually starts out slow every year. and yeah, now that mcfadden is getting more carries in oakland, i'll probably take that advice and switch those two up.

FondestMemory
08/25/08, 08:27 AM
rashard's still gonna be the number 2 behind willie. he'll get his share of carries, but willie's the guy. his two fumbles on saturday also have him in the dog house right now, so he'll have to work his way out of it. he's also not performing in goalline/short yardage situations as well as they'd hope. he'll put up some numbers this season, but probably not right away. run dmc should be effective immediately.

brees has weapons, and now has a top level tight end to go along with them. garrard is gonna be efficient and not make mistakes, but brees will put up some numbers for you.

Crocodile Logic
08/25/08, 08:31 AM
oh ok, i wasn't aware of mendenhall's recent fumble-itis. that makes the decision that much easier.

and as for brees, he's definitely got players around him. i just remember the horrible start he had last year; but yeah, as long as shockey is good to go for the regular season, he should add another dimension to n.o.'s offense.

Enjoy that. Every other rankings has them at bottom 5-10. The problem is, that even if their D is talented, the offense is so bad that the D is on the field so often that they get hammered and give up a ton of yards and points.

I guess I just don't see the point of doing that, what if SF plays like NE on your other team's bye week? then you've been holding on to them for nothing. you're better off just streaming a defense that faces the Bears or something like that. instead you could use that roster spot to handcuff one of your stud RBs, or another streaming QB option.

1 Larry Johnson
2 Drew Brees
3 Joseph Addai
4 Roy Williams
5 Marques Colston
6 Maurice Jones Drew
7 San Diego D
8 Tony Gonzales
9 Calvin Johnson
10 Jay Cutler
11 Marshawn Lynch
12 Darrell Jackson
13 Brady Quinn (lol)
14 Matt Stover
15 Greg Olsen

If LJ was worth a damn last year I would have won every game probably without picking up a single player.

How in the shit did you get Addai in the 3rd and Lynch in the 11th?

My team for a big money league with 10 of my buddies, we did the draft live last night.

QB - Anderson, Delhomme
RB - S. Jackson, J. Lewis, Rice, K. Smith, Felix Jones
WR - A. Johnson, Holt, Jennings, R. White, A. Gonzalez, Desean Jackson
TE - Vernon Davis
K - Dawson
DEF - Jacksonville

Heavy on receivers and a little light on experience running backs as far as depth but I like my team.

why is everyone posting their salary cap league teams? part of the strategy is not revealing your teams and the prices they're locked in as...there's a reason you can't view other people's teams. I know I'm not going to post mine.

have my big draft tommorow.

need a little help, which position should I go for first?? (draft order is decided tommorow..we draw for picks)

our point system is (not 100% sure ...but close to this)

TDs= 6
QB Yards +3 for every 100 (100-399) +5 for every 50 over that
QB int= -2
RB Yards + 3 for every 25 (25-99) +5 for every 50 over that.
RB Fumble - 2
WR= +1 for every reception (xtra 3 for receptions over 20yrds) (and xtra 2 for every rec. over 10)
WR Fumble= -2

D/K are not as important and will go later in the draft.

but depending on my spot, I always have troubles picking between a QB/RB if I have a top pick....if I get one of the last I may try to snag a big name WR before they start to go and then take a QB or RB on the way back

Broken Parachute

I had to pre-rank my last draft of the year because I was obviously busy today with moving into school and all, but I like my team...

QB - Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Schaub
RB - Steven Jackson, Ryan Grant, Maurice Jones-Drew, Rudi Johnson, Warrick Dunn
WR - Brandon Marshall, Anquan Bolden, Roddy White, Bryant Johnson
TE - Vernon Davis, Todd Heap
K - Josh Scobee
DEF - Minnesota

I'm definitely going to need another WR. Donte Stallworth is a FA, should I pick him up?

Results from my 8-team QB-heavy league. We also start two QBs.

QB - Peyton Manning
QB - Donovan McNabb
RB - Steven Jackson
RB - Jamal Lewis
WR - Braylon Edwards
WR - Marques Colston
WR - Anquan Boldin
TE - Chris Cooley
W/R - Thomas Jones
W/T - Donald Driver
K - Josh Scobee
DEF - NYG

Bench:
QB - Tarvaris Jackson (this pick pained me but was the only starting QB left)
RB - Julius Jones, Ray Rice, Rashard Mendenhall
WR - Vincent Jackson, Jerry Porter

Useful updates:

Maurice Morris won the starting job in Seattle over Julius Jones. But it will be a serious RBBC, so it's not that big of a deal. But MoMo gained some value because he has the first chance to come out strong and earn carries for the game.

Courtney Taylor is the 2nd starting WR in Seattle. Worth a pickup in deep leagues.

tim hightower is worth a spot on any roster, Edgerrin James is old and breaking down, it's a smart idea to have his immediate backup who has a real chance to steal goal line carries as is on your bench.

No, I'm saying Hightower isn't bad with a better #3. McCallister is an injury risk and Watson and Hightower are both slotted as backups. Hightower will probably steal some carriers, but I'm not sure it'll be in much of a sense that'll be beneficial. What does it matter though, you have LT and it'll only be for 1 or 2 bye weeks. I'm just not sold on the team's depth as a whole, but it was an auction league, so whatever.

Scott Weber
09/02/08, 12:40 PM
if you save money for depth in an auction league, you lose while facing a team that has brady, LT, moss, housh, and gates while you've got marvin harrison and lendale white that you shelled out money for sitting on the bench.

the reason i rec'd hightower earlier (for that one guy whose league has 20 man rosters) is because he potentially will be the goal-line back at some point in the season...edge hasn't exactly been a beast in short-yardage situations....hightower will be that, he just needs to get over some minor fumbling issues....he will have 5+ TD's with legit upside potential for more imo....

Hightower down the road could be a nice late keeper league steal, but I'm just not sure he's going to offer much until the end of the year. Who knows though, Edge is due to get hurt again and he might have just had the steal of the draft.

roto isn't head to head. it's yearly and it's based on categories. so for like baseball, you've got average, hr, rbi, runs, and sb. and 5 pitching categories. if there's 12 teams in the league, and you have the best batting average, you get 12 points. if you have the worst, you get 1. and so on for the other 9 categories. whoever has the most total points as it changes and fluxuates through the season, wins.

FondestMemory

positions depend on how you set it up. a lot of leagues go with qb/rb/rb/wr/wr/flex (rb or wr)/te/k/def.

but three wide receiver is pretty common.

although that would suck this year, as wr does not seem deep at all.

Oh word. I feel like I'm in kindergarten trying to learn terminology all over again, haha.

Sleepers that you like that are likely to slip in a non-live draft?

i still like fargas. dude's a legit back. if dmc gets off to a slow start, they'll keep feeding fargas. they won't be afraid to ease dmc in they have to.

ronald curry's been going late, and i like his prospects this year.

steve slaton has either been going late or not at all, but i think he's worth grabbing.

i really don't know what to tell you though with an autodraft. i don't see the point in that. the whole fun of it is drafting your team.

I definitely didn't know it was an autodraft until I signed up. Then I was bummed out.

Thanks, I'll keep them on my radar after the autopicking is done (ugh).

Here's what I ended up with:

QB - Romo, Garrard
RB - Graham, Jacobs, Brown, F. Jones
WR - R. Moss, A. Johnson, S. Holmes, Bowe, Stallworth
TE - Winslow
K - Dawson
D - Jacksonville

here's my other money league team. 12 teams, no PPR, 3 WR and no flex

QB - favre and rodgers
WR - a. johnson, harrison, ward, mason (stupid rotoworld and their false joey report), and gage
RB - westbrook, turner, j. stewart, and fred taylor
TE - v. davis and olsen
K - akers
DST - tennessee

FA's available: bradshaw, dunn, norwood, kevin jones, betts, a. hall, garcia, z. miller

i like your RBs more than your WR depth. depending on Favre's impact, Cotchery could turn out to be a nice sleeper. but right now, it seems like a steep drop-off after Fitzgerald.

and one last before I submit it....

we can either do 3 WR and 2 RB or

4 WR and 1 RB

my top 5 recievers are
Wayne
Cotcehry
Roddy
Javon
Mason

and my top 4 Rb's are
Gore
Bush
Perry
Williams

I am thinking

Gore
Perry/Bush cant decide yet..

and then
Wayne
Cotchery
Roddy

look good or should I swing something different?

Definitely Gore for one RB slot. Bush doesn't usually run well against the Bucs but if they get him involved in the passing game and it's a PPR league I'd start him. Definitely Wayne and Cotchery at WR.

True, especially against Dallas someone easy schedule against weak pass defenses and Pennington's lack of an deep throw killing ginn's home run potential.

I have 2 RB slots and a RB/WR flex to fill this weekend, Steven Jackson is my RB1, but I need to pick 2 RB or 1 RB/1 WR out of the next 5:

Jamal Lewis
Thomas Jones
Ray Rice
Jerry Porter
Vincent Jackson

I was originally going with Lewis and TJ, but if Rice starts against the Bengals defense, I'm thinking of putting him in place of one of the other two, possibly Lewis since he's had the hamstring issue and faces the Dallas defense. I'm not really considering either of the receivers as an option at this point.

Coles seems so obvious, but Bruce is a good receiver and JT O'Sullivan seems like he's not going to be bad.
