WutRickAstley?

Hey, I'd like some feedback on these recordings I did. Keep in mind this was done with the cheepest pro-tools rig possible: Protools M-Powered with a M-Audio Firewire 1814. Computer speakers, not real monitors. The most expensive mic I own is an SM57.
you can hear them at:

thanks, guys!
in terms of recording, i guess its decent. your guitars sound kinda weak but still for home recording and using the equipment you have its alright. in terms of your songs, they are pretty bad.

In terms of your recording knowledge, my good sir, I'm sure its pretty bad as well. I'm sure you can't appreciate something like Jerome With A G. Who do you think you are? When WutRickAstley? asked for feedback, he didn't mean for it to be a free for all for jerk comments like yours. They put a lot into their music, I'm sure, so I find it a bit ballsy of you to say that their songs are bad. You probably listen to shit like Bury Your Dead or something like that.
And I am not WutRickAstley?. :hitler:

Hey, man, thanks for the feedback.
I found your comments on guitar to be vague. What exactly about the guitar was weak? Anything I should bump up or down in the EQ’ing? A different compressor, maybe? The signal chain was as follows:
An Ibanez guitar into a Fender Deluxe tube amp w/ amp distortion.
SM57 about 3 inches from the grill, to the left of the middle of the speaker.
LA-2A compressor emulator set to a very basic guitar setting, and a little room reverb applied to the master buss.
Any problems?
Also, specifically, what are some songwriting areas that need work?
Again, thanks for the feedback.

its not so much the recording of the guitars, but you should just try some different tones. as i said before, for home recordings its decent as a whole although vocals could be edited a little more, most importantly made louder.
in terms of your songwriting, theres not much to pinpoint. theres nothing grabbing my attention as a listener. you should work on really matching up the sounds of your synth and guitar parts; i.e when you have a synth/piano lead going, your background guitar is really distorted in one part and it sounds really weird. i listened to your songs again and the last two songs on your myspace aren't that bad. you and your band should just sit down and work on these songs, and instead of just trying to write sweet riffs and synth lines (etc..) and just cramming it into one song you should just focus on the song as a whole and not on individual parts.
i hope that made any kind of sense to you, as i am not the best at explaining things.

it sounds alright
the vocals were good...the music was....not that great
terrible guitar tone...gross distortion
the synth was pretty cool, but the gross guitar distortion ruined it for me on "we are"
keep at it though, i think with work this could be great

I think this sounds pretty good for a home recording. I would recommend trying to record at least the rhythm guitars twice, to beef them up a little. A little time-based processors on the guitars might do a little to help that too. Your vocals seem a little buried in the mix. A little Mid EQ boost might help. The MIDI sounds a little cheesy... but that might be what you're going for.
The drums are a little weak, but they are hard to get right in a home studio environment with limited gear so I don't know what to tell you there.
You've got some good potential though. Keep at it.
