Sex and death is all anyone ever needs, sometimes at the same time makes it twice as good

you could probably shorten it to 2 hours and 45 min if needed.

I would cut approximately 194 min out

there is not one second of footage that could possibly be cut.

I honestly came in here thinking "all but Winslet's boobs and DiCaprio's death," and was so relieved to see that as an option.

Back in the day, before the movie even came out, I was called by one of those survey companies that asks what your opinions are on upcoming movies, and it just so happened that they were calling about "Titanic." The movie hadn't even been *filmed* yet and they ran through the entire plot over the phone, detail by detail. The phone call was two hours long in itself because they asked me what I thought of every last plot point. I even told them that everything regarding the jewel being stolen was pointless. Then I saw that movie and even though it was decent I stood by what I told that girl over the phone. It is definitely an hour too long.

Funny side note, in the same survey they asked about how Titanic would do against other films currently in various stages of production and they gave a brief description of each. One of them was a version of "Bad Boys 2" that required Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to go to London. I said I would have rather seen that than "Titanic".X-)

I'm never a fan of second guessing what people far more talented then me have done. Being that i thoroughly enjoyed it, and couple that with the fact that it's the highest grossing film ever, leads me to say theres no point in shortening it.

its an amazing movie as a whole cutting out certain parts would just ruin it

They could cut out at least an hour, the story drags at parts and some scenes are just pointless but this is coming from someone who thinks that Titanic is one of the most overrated movies of all time

This movie was boring as fuck.

Sex, death, credits. That's all I need.

And honestly, there are far better (and shorter) tales of doomed lovers that didn't involve boats and were far more entertaining. This is a ridiculously overrated movie.

I think I'm one of the few that isn't a fan of this movie.

I'm big into history (I've always wanted to be a history teacher like my grandpa) and just like with the movie Pearl Harbor, they ruined a huge piece of history with some crappy love story. Even though the special effects are done well, the whole fact of it being a big historical event is lost in the cliche love story.

Sorry, that's me just ranting with my honest opinion. don't argue with me. :-p

I agree with what you are saying. Often times Hollywood does that and my other big problem with Titanic is that it won best picture of L.A. Confidential (which is about 5 times as good)

One hour. Don't care about dinners, drama or romance; I want to see people drown!

I don't think I would shorten it, everything happened in the movie for a reason.

I actually saw this opening weekend with my 2 brothers and my dad, we got tons of funny looks. I voted 3, red headed nakedness plus the boat sinking was pretty cool too. Dont even get me started on Celine Dion.....

Q: What does Celine Dion's career and The Titanic have in common?
A: They both sank.

Ooooo diss!

that movie should have never been made, it was a gateway to a terrible artist named celine dion......
