Highly recommended. Nothing new, but extremely entertaining and the last 15-20 minutes are actually kind of horrifying.
It's kind of 28 Days Later in a much more confined setting.

One of the few movies that actually scared me in a very long time.

Same. It felt ridiculously real, and not simply because of the docu-style it was filmed in. The acting was great, and I actually just read that apparently many of the actors, during filming, didn't know exactly what was going to happen to them next. Don't know how true that is, though.
The whole scene in that one room towards the end was so fucking scary. I fell out of my seat when the cameraman was looking through the attic, even though I knew someone was going to be in there.

It kind of reminds me of what Dawn of the Dead did (besides the fact that Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead are from the same man); it's very similar to another movie, but in a MUCH more confined setting.Huh? Night of the Living Dead was in a much more confined setting than Dawn of the Dead.

Hahaha wow, yeah--I'm retarded.

Yeah everything seemed quite real I don't know if the American remake will capture it the same way.

From Fangoria
I have just returned tonight from a Special screening of the horror film, JACK BROOKS MONSTER SLAYER starring Robert Englund at the Two Boot Pioneer Theatre in New York City, hosted by FANGORIA Magazine. After the screening which was quite good by the way, I managed to have a brief conversation with FANGORIA editor Tony Timpone at the theatre, where we talked about horror films in general. especially the new ones being released including QUARENTINE. Our conversation steered toward REC and it's American release, QUARENTINE and I asked Mr.Timpone, who because of his job as FANGO editor has an inside conection with the studios, what was the reason why Sony/Columbia doesn't want to release REC in US theatres. Mr. Timpone confirmed to me that Sony/ Columbia only will release REC on DVD here in the US after they theatrically release their remake QUARENTINE and that both films will be released on DVD by Sony/Columbia Home Video at the same time at the beginning of 2009. Mr. Timpone also told me that Sony/ Columbia doesn't want to release theatrically the original version of REC here, because (QUOTE)" they are afraid that releasing the original version of REC in US theatres will overshadow their American remake of the film." (END QUOTE). Mr. Timpone also agree that it is a mistake on Columbia's part in following this practice about REC and that it shows a certain insecurity on their part regarding QUARENTINE to stand on it's own merits as a film in comparison to REC.
That is bull shit call particularly when Spanish horror has made inroads into American theathers with The Devil's Backbone and the Orphanage.
I saw an ad for it (It screened in cinemas here I think, or for the DVD. Not sure which). Either way, it looked very "meh" to me. I get the feeling a lot of people cling onto it because it's foreign (Probably why a lot of people are pissed at the remake).

While people do cling at films for merely being foreign people are pissed at American remakes because they represent a huge step down most of the time.

English subbed; either way it's a short film so you shouldn't complain to much about reading subtitles during that time.

I've been meaning to check this out. Looks like I need to get on it.

I guess that's matter of opinion. I still prefer the US Ring to the original. I haven't seen many others though.

Then why make such a claim as I get the feeling a lot of people cling onto it because it's foreign (Probably why a lot of people are pissed at the remake)..
Then why make such a claim as .
That's just the general impression I get from a lot of talk about remakes. I don't mean to say all people are like this, but a lot of people I know are.
