this makes no sense.
Everglow is the only release I like by them, and it happens to be much better than the other two.

emotionally driven is a meaningless phrase. especially in "your scene"

it's not "my scene" its the fake pop-punk scene.
you can spectate the integrity of feeling in music but that's all you can do. i hear feeling in it, you dont.

every band int his fake pop punk scene is "emotionally driven". it's a meaningless phrase, and your definition of it is insanely subjective, so what's the point in using it as your justification for saying it's best? just say "it's my favorite".
you might have no objective justification, but you aren't spewing meaningless media buzzwords.

i just don't see the point in saying something like "it's the best because it seems the most sincere" instead of sounding like you're writing a press release for mae.

i didnt intend to come off that way thats just how i describe things, i use the phrase "emotionally driven" a lot when describing music because i value being able to hear that in music.
Everglow w/ the bonus tracks might as well be the Mae discog. It's like 73 minutes long w/ 18 songs. Why bother with any of the other ones?
Yes. And?

mae making singularity is like a 16th century baroque string section doing classically transcribed metal songs. they are just wayyy too soft and wimpy a band to try to be pearl jam or whatever other powerful rock they attempted. not to mention the songwriting is pretty shitty anyway.

Yeah, no, I agree. Mae really didn't hit their peak til 89, and afterwords it really was just mediocre. Don't get me wrong, after 89' it was still good, just not as good as that year.

I didn't get that impression from Singularity I just think the songs weren't as good.

I don't get the hate for Singularity. yes it was radio-rock in some areas but it had its fair share of awesome pop songs

Yeah I don't hate it but like I said, definitely has some duds.
The weakest thing to me about Everglow is the lyrics to The Sun and the Moon, those are pretty terrible.

haha none of their lyrics are anything to write home about, and thats being nice. but i like the feeling they put in their songs on that album.

yeah but most of the time you don't notice them as much. i can get along with the majority of the lyrics, they aren't too cheesy, just simple stuff.

thats true. its like the graduate, their lyrics are incredibly simple but not like corny simple in a way that detracts from their great music.

Everglow is an album that can put me in a decent mood no matter how crappy of a day I had been having. As cheesy as it undoubtedly is, it has become one of my go-to records when I am feeling down.

Thats awesome. It would be wrong to give Aaron Sprinkle too much credit for the album but I truly believe that he, as Mae's producer for the album, truly helped THEM capture the sound they were looking for. Everything he touches turns to gold, I love it all.
I'm definitely an Everglow guy haha.
