Its a legitimate genera, I'm surprised you've never heard of it. Here's a compilation video of some songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbx3uVAlZIU , and here's a article that mentions it http://www.articlesbase.com/dating-articles/different-genres-of-emo-bands-264191.html (Phase 4).

Cap'n Jazz, and Mineral are just plain midwestern emo
At the Drive-in and Drive Like Jehu are post hardcore.
Thursday is just somewhere in between.
And if you're looking for a new band that sounds similar to cap'n jazz and American football, check out Algernon Cadwallader.

Oh, don't apologize. Sharing is caring.
There exist some bands that could technically be called this Deadwood Divine, Halo Perfecto, etc. But yeah, not what you are likely thinking of.

By the way, Nevuk..do you still listen to pretty much just noise? Besides the rap you recently got into, I mean..

I've always liked a wide range of stuff. I've been into rap for about 2 years actually, but I've gotten way into it more recently. I couldn't stand WTC when I heard them around 5 years ago, but they've grown on me steadily since then. Emo is always a <3 of mine. As is anarcho-punk. My more normal tastes are a bit of folk, johnny cash, simon and garfunkel and that's about it. Post-hardcore as well. The noise stuff is just free jazz and noise rock, which while I love is probably only 10-15% of my total music listening tastes.
Not for me. I'm about to get me some.
I took a nap from 8 to 12, meaning to get a lot more sleep. It didn't work because people kept slamming doors in my dorm.
And I've been poring over obscure variants of anarchy for the last 3 hours. It leaves me bitter and wanting to eat breakfast foods. I hate breakfast foods.

I know this girl that sort of looks like that. Except she has a monroe piercing too, and her hair is a little longer.
