In a move that is predicted to have a significant financial impact on commercial radio, Howard Stern (http://www.howardstern.com) announced that he will make the jump to Sirus Satellite Radio (http://www.sirius.com) at the end of his current contract with Infinity Broadcasting. While the fate of Howard Stern may not be terribly important to you, this story is worth following because it has the potential to change the way you listen to radio over the next few years. More information is available here (http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/06/news/newsmakers/stern_sirius/index.htm?cnn=yes).
this is really interesting.
i love howard stern and i am so happy he isn't exactly retiring yet.
this will enable him to do so much shit that he isn't allowed to do
on his current station.
long live stern.
but still .. $10 a month?
it's worth it.

Yeah I think it's good for both him and satellite radio. My only concern with satellite right now is that there are two competitors, XM and Sirius who are competing. While competition will keep prices lower, it also sucks because certain programming will be exclusive to each provider. For instance, Howard will be on Sirius and Opie and Anthony recently signed to XM, so anyone who has a strong attachment to both programs would need two subscriptions.

We can all thank the Bush administration for playing a small part in this.

This is good news. Stern has not been funny in a long long time.

Howard is not doing Bush or Clear Channel any favors by moving to satellite radio. He has already pledged to bring down FM radio and make Clear Channel's stations worthless. They pissed him off enough for him to take a stance against Bush and trust me, Howard does have the power to swing this election. His core audience are white males aged 18-49 who, while not usually interested in politics, will follow him to the polls next month. Michael Powell's use of Howard as a scapegoat for the whole Super Bowl incident could very well prove to be the downfall of the Bush administration. It's ignorant to doubt how broad his influence is.

Sirius is actually $13 a month. Much better quality than XM. If you spend quite a bit of time in your car i strongly recommend it. it has saved my life on a few cross country road trips. Tony Hawk, Kelly Slater, and Bam Margera all either have shows on Sirius or will be getting them.

Stern had no choice but to choose Sirius. Clear Channel is a major stockholder in XM.

Thats retarded. My Uncle Jess (Jess Ravich, CEO and Founder of Libra Investments if you want to google it, I know how nit-picky you people get) is one of the co-owners of Sirius Satellite, and he isn't a Republican. Bush has nothing to do with the company.
