Animal Farm is an amazing book... its such an clever parody of the russian revolution, they should use in in history class to explain it better.

Animal Farm is good. I think Orwell is a little to didactic. Its a very interesting novel. Animal Farm the movie, is so brutally bad. They should have got Babe to be in it, lol.

I wasn't a fan of it, only because I wasn't really a fan of political literature. I had to read Animal Farm and 1984 for English and I didn't really like it. But if you honestly like that sort of writing then it is definitely a good book to read.

I haven't gotten around to reading Animal Farm yet but I got it for my mom for Christmas last year and she read it and loved it. I read 1984 last year and I loved that too, although it's extremely depressing...

it can apply to most any instance of a revolution leading to a dictatorship.

Gatsbys American Dream actually based their last album, Ribbons and Sugar loosely off of Animal Farm.

Their first cd, Why We Fight and the name of their band came from the book The Great Gatsby.

I read animal farm in 10th grade for english class.
and i read the great gatsby in 11th grade for english class.

interesting how books can have such an impact on the way people think.

yeah i'm reading it too in my english class. you don't go to westwood, do ya?

it's pretty good so far, of course, i'm jaded 'cause i've seen the movie a thousand times. *goodbye, dear boxer. i love you!*

and we're doing little projects about russian history at the same time. my friend and i are researching ~Communism~. exciting, no?

no, i live in pa

but i just finished chapter 6 of the book and it's actually pretty good. the key ties between joseph stalin and the animal farm character napoleon...it's quite interesting.

Yeah, I didn't read this book. My Honors English class had us read a book called 'The Chosen' by Chaim Potok. Its all about the divisions within the Jewish faith. I really disliked it and I'm pretty sure there were countless homosexual undertones.

Great book. Orwells work is fantastic and 1984 was only 20 years off.

I kinda liked animal farm. it was a clever parody and i appreciated the whole dictatorship-stalin/trotsky stuff, but its not really my style of book. definately worth a look though

yeah, i totally understand the album now like the title ribbons & sugar is connected to all that mollie wants in the book

I know there was mention of 1984 since it's also by Orwell. Another Utopia book like that is either the kind of elementary The Giver (can't remember the author) or Anthem by Ayn Rand. But yea, totally loved Animal Farm, one of my favorite books, but I'm a big fan of politcal, historical and really any kind of symbolism.
Ayn Rand is a no-talent assclown. She can't write her way out of kindergarten.

Orwell's books are entertaining, but not as literature so much as political statements. They're a bit too direct with the political aspect to appeal to me too much, but they are classics.
