I live in CT. I just got pulled over for going a little over double the speed limit. The posted speed limit was 30, and i was going 63.
I didn't get arrested, but I do have to show up at court.
I have never gotten any sort of ticket.
What do you think the judge will do?

he will make you pay a huge fine.

My license got taken away for going 17 over (highway, 82 in a 65) and a failure to yield (turned left in front of a car that didn't go at a green light). The speeding was 6 points, the fty was 4 points. The dmv added points for some reason, using all of mine up.
License = gone.
Not saying your license will be gone, but you'll get points and a ticket. My speeding was 240 dollars, the other one was 160.

hmm. Well, i'm alright with the fine part. It's my first offense though and i have no previous records against me. do you think i'll get my liscense suspended?

Those two tickets are the only citations of any kind I've ever gotten, ever. Showed up to court, got no fine reductions or point reductions. I don't really think you'll get it taken away, but since you were going double the speed limit, I think that after this you might only have one more ticket before it's gone.

it's scary man.
it depends on the state i know... but here in PA you would lose your license. if you go 30+ over the limit i think you lose it automatically. depending on the road i would say you deserve to lose it. unless it is one of those backroads where no one is ever around then i think you shouldn't. where the road is should make a difference in my mind. but the law probably does not take that into account. some speed limits are just set waaaaaaaaay too low for no obvious reason if a reason at all.

Yeah, I didn't really think 17 over on an empty highway was all that big of a deal. It was 6 points and 240 bucks though. With the added points from the dmv, it was 8 points. Yikes.

I got pulled over for blowing a stop sign once. That ended up in me showing up in court and the judge telling me to not be such an idiot.

hmm i just looked at the court order.
the speed limit is 30 on the road.
the cop wrote i was going 63 in a 35...
did i just sorta luck out?
uh oh smmoreo

You did. I'm not sure about CT, but in more than a handful of states, going double the speed limit can land you a felony charge.

talk to the prosecutor before the judge. you can normally get your sentence knocked down. As for losing your license unless you have recent tickets i doubt you'll lose it.
i've got pulled over 8 times and i've only gotten one ticket. i love being a girl

Well in NJ you ALWAYS talk to the prosecutor first because he is the one who charges you for the crime. (i'm assuming its the same for all states) The judge just enforces his decision. (The prosecutor is actually the most powerful person in the court room). If he's a dick he probably won't do anything, but if he's cool he will probably lower your speed or give you a completely different offense. However you'll most likely end up paying more money if he does (it's better in the long run because you won't have the points). Your best bet is to call up the courthouse and ask them if them when you can talk to the prosecutor beforehand.

your license will be suspended no doubt about it. For how long though, hmm I don't know.

Your first mistake was when you didn't offer the cop sexual favours in exchange for ripping up your ticket.
Oh well, next time...

Get a lawyer. Never go to court without one. I've gotten out of so many speeding tickets thanks to that advice. It may cost you more money up front but it'll save a bunch in the long run with insurance and what not.

Setence you to community service--every time someone on this forum gets told to 'anal' someone, you'll have to be the receiver.

In Ca you can actually get attempted manslaughter for it...

girls always tell me to cry when I get pulled over and I never have, although usually every word I say is a lie haha. anyway, I got pulled over twice without getting tickets and then one morning when going to school to take a midterm I got pulled over right by my house by this bitchy lady cop and I just knew I was screwed, and sure enough, she gave me a ticket.
it said something about a court appearance on my ticket but I didn't actually have to go. I did have to pay a fine and for traffic school. I still have to sign up for traffic school though, I actually need to before september.

i just get really big tears in my eyes, like i'm on the verge of crying. it usually helps. it also helps that i have a clean driving record!

What kind of idiot drives more than double the speed limit anyway?

Why don't you tell the judge you would have gone triple the speed limit if the asshole cop hadn't stopped you. or better yet, how about not speeding next time.
