I need some help choosing. What are some good brands to check out? Should I get it with speakers or purchase speakers separately? Can I find anything decent around $100 bucks?

This (http://www.amazon.com/Crosley-4%252din%252d1-System-Paprika-%2528CR66%252dPA%2529/dp/B000HQ6I0S/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219250483&sr=8-5) one is looking pretty decent and has good reviews.

Thanks in advance.

PS. I wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured I would post it in here.

The one you linked to is always a safe bet as far as record players. As for buying speakers, it depends upon whether the record player has build in speakers, if the built in speaker is enough for you, etc. I personally have separate speakers. If you use the search function, there was a thread about the topic of buying a record player.

I need help with this too. My mom's got an old turntable down in the living room but she won't let me move it upstairs to my room and it's a pain listening to my vinyls in there.

Ah, I will use the search function before I post next time.

And, I plan on buying separate speakers sometime in the future, but I don't make the greatest amount of money at the moment, so I have to take things one step at a time. Do built in speakers generally sound at decent at least?

Yeah they'll be fine for the time being. Granted it doesn't look like you have a choice, but they'll do until you can get some speakers. Have fun with all that.

I really don't like that specific kind of record player, I think you're better off going with a straight up record player for a similar price (believe me, they're out there). Or probably the best way is to get an older second-hand one and fix it up, you can usually do this for about 20-50$ and they'll outperform a new 100$ one. As far as speakers go, its better to get crappy speakers and a good record player than vice versa. A bad record player destroys your record's audio quality permanently pretty much.

Get this (http://cgi.ebay.com/GE-Wildcat-Stereo-Turntable-for-Repair-Needs-Drivebelt_W0QQitemZ300250216325QQcm dZViewItem?hash=item300250216325&_trkparms=72%3A134%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A 2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14) and just get someone to fix the drive belt. Its the same one I have, and it works perfect.

How much would it cost me to get a new drive belt in there. And, I'm new to this thing obviously, what is a 48? It says it's also missing the 48 adapter.

I might do that. Do you have any suggestions as far as brands or specific players?

45 adapter, so it can play the smaller 45rpm albums that have a larger hole in the center.

Ah, yeah, I misread it. Sorry about that. And thanks for clearing that up. I think I might just go wikipedia all of this.
