bullshit

have you listened to the straylight run album?
it has some good songs and a couple of really bad songs
and even the good songs get old after a few listens
i downloaded the album months ago, had it for a week and then gave away my burned copy.
i still have the songs on my computer but have had absolutely no desire to listen to them ever since.

john nolan is a decent song writer but extremely overrated especially on this site.

Are you guys still bitching about the "songwriter" leaving? You dumbasses They wrote their album with the dude from BN too. You guys hardly know anything, so just sit still keep quiet and everything will be ok.

the dude from BN help write the album? what are you talking about?

Yeah I guess John wrote every single song they had before the new cd and he also brought up the bands status just by being in it. He also built the equipment and instruments from scratch and played them all by himself. And just the other day he saved 100 nuns from a burning bus and then ran 30 miles just to help an old lady cross the street. He must be God.

pff retard. The new songs sound exactly like they could have been placed on Tell all your friends. John Nolan is a good "co" writer. That's it. He's not that great at guitar and his vocals sway in and out of key too much to be a lead singer. I'm so tired of people saying "The talent left the band" when Adam co-wrote the songs with him. I guess it's the cool thing to do now.

resUrectMe617
10/13/04, 01:49 PM
although some of the songs on the new cd sound similar [musically] to that of Tell All Your Friends, you can't say that they are similar lyrically- cause they totally aren't [to me, at least].

1) give up the crap about songwriting talent leaving the band, etc. no one cares.
2) i was at the wedding until almost the very end. pretty sure that never happened. there was no discussion of the band, or anything like that the entire day. it was a lovely break from the norm.

InaGreendase

Yeah, it's true. Victory is 5 million richer, which is probably (I stress probably) why they were able to pick up the 2 recent signings (June and The JV).

what i think the main problem with everyone is that everyone is forgetting that its called music, not lyrics...i personally think that tbs used to be nothing more then lyrics, until they're current release dropped. now that fred and matt have joined, they should've changed the bands name completely because everyones fixed on relating tayf, to the current tbs, and its not the same band

As much as people want to pretend that John Nolan leaving the band doesn't play a huge role, it does.

Taking Back Sunday got popular from their first album, Tell All Your Friends. It is what drove them to be noticed. John Nolan wrote a huge portion of it. Lyrics, choruses, you name it. Taking Back Sunday would NOT be where they are without John Nolan's help. He left on the cusp of them breaking out into huge popularity. He's a big man who's got more integrity than I do.

Don't pretend like John Nolan being gone isn't a big deal. It is. Obviously, they're still something without him now. But they aren't going to be near as popular if he had never been doing creative work for them. Wake up.

I'm not even gonna get into the whole debate with John Nolan and stuff but the Straylight Album IMO is Awesome(michelle and john BOTH have great voices too) and to

Does anyone wonder what a band with Adam, Jesse, and John would sound like? if they were all friends, itd be like the super band of today
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

First the only one who isn't friends is Adam and john and jesse are cool and john and adam MIGHT be cool but anyways my point is I've been saying this for like 6 months... Noone's ever responded,as no one but me responded to you. My concert has SLR, TBS, and BN

SLR's set normal

TBS John and Shaun do TAYF songs and Jesse does guest on "there's no 'i' in team" (i know he didn't do guest on the album but it'd be cool)

BN's set normal possible john input?

Encore.....

....

....

John, Adam and Jesse walk out with acoustic guitars start a new side project!!! Taking New Straylight! ok that was a joke with the title but yea would be kick ass...

(many of you think wow this post is pointless)

dude john wrote the BN song "magazines" off of your favorite weapon. so he could guest vocal on that, and since the song 70x7 is about him he could sing on that too it could be a 70x7/no i in team medoly......hows that?

I'm too lazy to look through all 60 something posts so if someone said this already, i'm sorry. I found this interesting, it's the victory bio of Straylight Run...

"In April of 2003 Shaun Cooper asked his friend John Nolan, 'Do you want to commit career suicide?' 'Yes, as a matter of fact, I do,' John replied"

John knew they were getting too big, too fast. It's not the making money and sucess part about selling out that i hate, it's that the money usually tends to be a distraction. and the bands forget who they are. and we all can agree that adam lazzara is arogant....it will go straight to his head.

I've just got to know, why do you bother replying in a thread about a band you don't like? Does it make you feel superior or something?

Discussions are meant for debating, sure, but coming into a thread and pissing on a band without giving any reason just makes you look like an ass.

I always thought that they had a contract with Victory for one more CD.

But whatever...they've been wanted to go to a major label. Victory isn't the best label to be on. They don't treat you that well...or so people say.
