How do you people feel about pits/mosing/dancing at shows, do you like them and getting crazy ion them, or do you go for the show and think its annoying?

As long as your respectful to the people around you, don't act like an idiot, and don't Deliberately hurt anyone then I'm cool with it.

First couple shows I went to when I was a bit younger the pit scared me, but after going to a few more shows (especially warped tour with a bunch of my friends) I can't stand just standing there, I hafta move and when the show's exciting and theres tons of other fans jumping around with you, the pits the place to be.

as long as people are respectful to the ones who don't want to be part of the pit.

Pits are very cool. I'm don't really partake unless it's ska, but I think hardcore dancing is fun to watch. I love crowdsurfing though, I do it at Fall Out Boy shows all the time.

At ska shows (which sums up most of the shows I attend), all I do is skank.

But at other types of shows, I always mosh as well. I think pits are cool as long as you remember and follow the two basic rules:

1. Don't try to hurt anyone purposely.
2. If somebodys down, help them back up.

I like watching hardcore dancing too.....when it's done with the right music/band (I just saw some kid doing it during Coheed a week ago....). Anyways, it is fun to watch, but I'd feel like a complete retard doing it. I've always wondered who the first person was to start doing that stuff and who the other people were that saw it and went "nice, I wanna do that too." It's just weird to me.

on the Honda Civic tour in pittsburgh tons of the Thrice fans were complete assholes. they pushed people over and would stomp on arms/legs/etc. they were just being disrespectful. personally i was fine i'm a big guy and i still enjoyed the set. but this was also a dashboard show. so there was tons of girls there. and they were getting pushed all over and stuff. yea they shouldnt have been up front but these guys should've done this differently...

i hate the assholes, but if its just moshing then it's cool. but at ska shows, moshing is a no-no. all i do (along with the whole crowd) is skank the night away. oh its fun

pits are great unless people are moshing to songs that just aren't fast enough (case in point: idiots moshing to Mass Pike by the Get Up Kids at the Lowell civic date)

anyone from central jersey knows the new egypt kids are the biggest assholes ever. they are the ones who start the fights just for the sake of fighting.i hate it.

i love when pits are really active, it adds to the atmosphere of the concert, its cool when everyone's moving and really into the music. However, me being quite small (and a girl) i am kinda weary of really crazy ones. probrably one of the worst i've seen was thrice. it was at a pretty large venue (much to my dismay) and as soon as they started playing this huge circle ("the circle of death" as i have come to affectionately call it) opened up and shit got crazy! at one point i saw these two girls grab a kid by his hair, bend his head back and punch him in the face. that pit was just straight violence it seemed, which i think is just annoying.

I hate crowd surfing so much. Just grab em and pull them down if they come your way. I love to skank, moshing is annoying when the music is quick

I have grown to hate the pit at any show because every show I go to they arent respectful to people not in the pit. People that are trying to WATCH whats happening on the stage. I have got pulled in several times and wasnt too happy either time. I like moving at a concert too, but that doesnt mean I have to slam into other people to do so.

Now, if people in the pit didnt disrupt the rest of the crowd like they always do...then I wouldnt have a problem with them at all.

the pits are great, as long as its the right kinda song and its not too crazy. Like someone said before, crowd surfing is really annoying. last time i saw TBS some girl crowdsurfing kicked my mates head, knocking him over and he had a black eye for weeks. i also hate the people who think its funny to push the crowd left/right inbetween the headliners and support bands. its not.

dancing > moshing

hardcore shows are the best in my humble opinion. i mean, even if someone gets knocked over there is someone right there to pick them up. wether it be the fashioncore kids or the tough guy hardcore kids, everyone is insanely nice at hardcore shows.

also, the amount of dancing going on at pop punk and screamo shows is rediculous. it annoys me to an extent.

i love moshing, i used to think crowdsurfing was cool in till like the 7th show i went to, TBS was playing Cute w/o the E and it was like the very end of the song and i was like mesmerised by Adam and then some crowsurfer comes up and bashes her damn leg in my head, its funny watching them afterward if u go to a mainstream show and they get to the front and all the security is like pushing them outta the way and they look like "Ummm ok what am i supposed 2 do now"...and then i laugh at them as they gotta start at the back of the pit again

If it's a band i REALLY REALLY want to see, i'll stand there and take it all in without fighting for my life. I enjoy it more that way, i guess. Pits used to be fun when i was younger, when all you wanted to do was shaft girls from behind (ignoring the sweat and/or boyfriend) but it lost its appeal.
