the next album better not be influenced by the label (more mainstream feel i mean) and everything will be fine ;).

In my opinion TBS wasn't the best band on Victory. For right now at least I would say Straylight Run is the best.

victory records isn't really that good of a label, they need to choose better bands to sign. and taking back sunday isn't the best band on the label, just the biggest. straylight run is definately my fav on the label.

I just got there album and its okay but it doesnt even compare to the TBS albums but after TBS is gone I think Atreyu is the best band left on Victory and im sure a major will be after Hawthorne Heights even though most people on here hate them somebody is buying there album.

Atreyu the best band on Victory... no... it's probably Straylight Run but whatever Victory isn't and hasn't been that great ever. They have/had a few good bands but nothing amazing. Although the new SLR is great and TBS' first cd was great their second was pretty good... not as good as the first but anyways I'm kinda upset about the sign to WB if it IS TRUE.

I love everything thinks that all of a sudden because TBS got on a big label they are going to change how they sound or who they tour with. TBS didn't really like being on Victory...if you ask them about it yourself they will tell you that. Hell...Straylight Run didn't want to be on Victory, but they didn't really have much of a choice. Maybe this isn't the best example...but Yellowcard is on Capital and they're touring with The Starting Line.
They are on Victory now and they were the number 1 rock band for a week...number 3 behind Ashlee Simpson and some stupid compilation. If they sign to Warner Bros...it doesn't mean they will definately get on TRL. They could easily go on it now. It's about the publicist.
Grow up and don't go assuming things and saying OHH NOOO...THEY'RE GOING TO TOUR WITH AVRIL...WAHHH...........I CAN'T LIKE THEM ANYMORE CUZ THEY'RE ON A MAJOR LABEL.
They can't stay on Victory, and they probably don't want to.

Pretty much. Oh well. More publicity never hurt anyone. As long as they don't change.

I seriously doubt they will be on TRL and have aphitheatre tours. First, people don't vote for bands on TRL because who their record label is, most don't even know. Also, I think TBS is as big now as they will ever be. If this is true, good for them.

The Used, Head Automatica, The Bronx, Atreyu. Oh yeah - The Used are on Reprise (Warner Bros.).
Story of the Year, My Chemical Romace, Letter Kills. Oh yeah - Story of the Year is on Maverick.
Just because a band is on a major label doesn't mean they're going to start touring with crappy bands on the same roster as them.

I dont understand this instant band-basing that goes on every time a band signs to a bigger label.......You people need to understand that music is these peoples careers. If you worked at a resturant and started out as a bus boy.....would you not want to move up? Should bands stay on smaller labels with little to no exposure forever??? Would you keep busing tables till you were old enough to retire......i doubt it. Its the natural progression in your career to move up. So lets all quit our bitching every time a band signs to a bigger label, theyre just doing what everyone else does in life and "Movin' on up"

I think that is the best analogy that has been made on this site. The sad thing is half the people won't understand what you're saying. But there are a few that will see and understand and agree and I agree.

Honestly who cares if Victory lost their best band or whatever...
Tony, the owner of Victory isn't crying I bet... I mean he made more than a million dollars from that band, at least.
And Straylight Run will not be staying with them either.
They had to release a cd with victory because of John Nolan's and Shaun's contracts with victory.

unfortunately it doesnt work like that......each album may sell for ten bucks, but hes not making all that.........its sold to a distributor at a cheaper than retail rate......so well say he gets like an even five bucks (because remember both the distributor and retailer need to make a profit!.....so victory sells it for five, the distributor sells it for whatever the decided rate between he and the label is, say seven, and then the retailer sells it at the suggested retail price of say ten dollars) unfortanately hes still not making 2 million dollars.....because remember it costs money to produce the album well say a cool 50k, then you have your marketing costs, which im guessing is running close to 100k a month just for print advertising alone, then you have to pay to get your songs on the radio (no you dont pay the radio, you pay a promoter who works with radio stations to push your songs) I hapen to know the particular promoter victory has used in the past runs 3k for a month long college radio airplay campaign. (trust me hes spending more than that) Then you have to pay the salary of the PR person whos job it is to get people to talk about your record. And well suddenly you can see how 400,000 records sold doesnt net you as much money as you might think. Dont get me wrong, he made a shitload of money, but not as much as you all think.
