Last night at the CMJ showcase featuring Saves The Day (http://www.savestheday.com), The New Amsterdams (http://www.thenewamsterdams.com), Hot Rod Circuit (http://www.hotrod-circuit.com), Northstar (http://www.northstarrock.com) and Say Anything (http://www.sayanythingmusic.com), Chris from STD announced that this was the band's last show of the year and they will begin working on new songs. Also, Straylight Run showed up to play an acoustic set after having played the same set at the Times Square Virgin Megatore. Jesse Lacey of Brand New (http://www.brandnewrock.com), Chris of Dashboard Confessional (http://www.dashboardconfessional.com) and Kevin Devine (http://www.kevindevine.com) were seen walking around as well.

gosh that show last night was sooooooo good. chris connely performing 'imagine' solo acoustic totally made standing in the same spot for 5 hours worth every minute.
hot rod circut and say anything were AMAZING. i cannot wait to see them with straylight.
was anyone there a little disappointed by not only straylight run's performance, but the crowd reaction to the entire show???

GAH that would've been awesome to see.

Anytime Chris is somewhere, you know it's a good place to be.

Did DC play anything?

damnit i knew Jesse was going to be there... i wish he had gone to the acoustic performance at Virgin Megastore- cause i was there! argh.

in other news, Chris from Dashboard was at this past monday's The Beautiful Mistake, Name Taken, Tokyo Rose show @ Tribeca Rock Club in NYC too. why, you ask? people from Fiddler Records (Name Taken's label) were there and Dashboard used to be on that label.

i wasn't dissapointed by straylight's performance, but i did wish everyone had a longer set.
yea, i'm glad i was near the front cause the people in the back were being asses. how loud did they need to talk (especially during the new amsterdams)? inconsiderate bastards.

actually straylight didnt play the same set
at the virgin store they played

"the perfect ending"
"existentialism on prom night"
"tool sheds and hot tubs"
"dignity and money"
"now it's done"
"i will" (radiohead cover"
and
"mistakes we knew were making"

at the show they played "it's for the best " instead of "mistakes ...." :lol2:

I thought Jesse would be at the instore too, but when I got to SOBs my friends and I were standing next to John Nolan, Kevin Devine, and Max Beemis talking and I said, "They're just missing Jesse." Two minutes later I turned back around and Jesse was with them.

i loved how someone in the middle screamed "shut up" to the talkers in the back. what did you think of Dios Malos?

apparently jesse lacey doesn't have much to do these days because he was at straylight's cbgb show on wednesday night and their cd release show at the downtown on long island on friday night.

straylight's wednesday set:

dignity and money
mistakes we knew we were making
now it's done
existentialism on prom night
the tensions and the terror
another word for desperate
you're name here (sunrise highway)
sympathy for the martyr

Yea, "Imagine" was amazing. Saves the Day was awesome on Thursday. Say Anything was amazing, though. I was right up front and am actually the girl who got a mic shoved in her face by Casper towards the end of "Slowly, Thru A Vector." I love Say Anything. I hope they play a longer set when I see them with Straylight.

I was pissed at the people who were being assholes during Straylight's set. They were right behind me and I wanted to punch them.

John and Jesse singing along to Saves The Day = priceless.

Kevin Devine actually didn't know Straylight was playing that night. We ran into him and he said he had just shown up to try and catch the end of the New Ams set and that the following night he was gonna go see SLR because he had missed them at CBGBs (he himself was playing a show that night) and he was chatting about how he also wanted to see the goodlife/faint show but that he was going to go out to LI instead. Either way, when we informed him that he had just missed SLR he was quite taken back and so even he was out of the loop.

He was also super super sweet to us when we basically walked right into him.

I was quite impressed with all the bands, but I must agree would people PLEASE shut up when bands are playing. If you want to talk, go to the back, if you want to stand in the front and wait for the next band to play, then SHUT UP. It reminded me A LOT of the straylight show last fall when the new ams/format/murder by death played and people did the SAME THING to poor matt pryor during his set. It was deja vu.

Because going to a show simply for the sake of listening to some music couldn't have been on his agenda?

And no, no one asked.
