Yeah so i basically suck at doing recommendations regularly. But I rule at being me. So check out what I recommend people.
Lola Ray (http://www.lolaray.com): So yeah. They may be on Benji and Joel from Good Charlotte's label DC FLAG. They may currently be on tour with Mest. That alone probably has prevented you from checking them out. But this band is seriously worth it. I somehow ended up at a Mest show recently, and was blown away by their set. Just straight up rock. I could listen to "Our Brown Friends" for hours.
The Honorary Title (http://www.thehonorarytitle.com): This band is seriously so underrated right now. I've been listening to them pretty much exclusively lately. Just dance-y, acoustic-y music. Not as happy as The Format and not as sappy as Dashboard Confessional.
The Western Front (http://www.thewesternfront.org): Yes I have recommended a trillion times (actually, like twice) before, but words cannot express how much i love this band. Go To Your Desire; Don't Hang Around Here is one of my favorite albums to come out this year.
The Mean Reds (http://www.themeanreds.net): Two words. Dance Party.
Iron & Wine (http://www.ironandwine.com): Absolutely beautiful. Sam Beam has the softest voice ever. If you like your music hard and screamy and whiny: don't bother.
I haven't been listening to that much "new" music lately. Instant message me and tell me what I should be listening to! aim: badlucknicole. Seriously. Do it.
And now for the fabulous Miss Emily Driskill's recommendations:
Tegan and Sara (http://www.teganandsara.com) - So Jealous. They're canadian, lesbian, identical twins(!!), and they play some incredible pop rock on their sexy acoustic guitars. They've also toured with Ryan Adams. So if you jerk off to Ryan Adams, I highly suggest you buy this CD and their last one, If It Was You.
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds. You are not cool if you don't own this record. Anyone who's ever genuinely been in love will appreciate the honesty of the lyrics in "God Only Knows" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice"...man. The whole record is so beautiful and completely timeless.
Arcade Fire (http://www.mergerecords.com) - Funeral. You might notice a trend on this CD...lots of songs about death. My favorite is "Rebellion (Lies)." I think I listened to it on repeat for about an hour, yesterday. And I can't help but love the fact that it's a husband/wife songwriting team. That's so freaking awesome.
Stark Raving (http://www.purevolume.com/starkraving)] - Demos. You'll be hearing BIG things from this band, very soon. Holy crap...I think I just peed my pants.
Plain White Ts (http://www.purevolume.com/plainwhitets) - All That We Needed. I spent over a month in Los Angeles documenting the Ts as they cranked out this album, and I'll be honest with you...I'm in love with this CD. I don't care how "hardcore" or how "emo" you think you are, no one can deny a good rock record. NO ONE. And if you think you're too hard for this, you can kiss my ass. I LOVE the Plain White Ts.
Punch Drunk (http://www.punchdrunkonline.com) - Pure Unadulterated Hate Is The Best Medicine. Shut up and dance, bitch.
