• Death Cab For Cutie (http://www.deathcabforcutie.com) - What can I say about this band that hasn't already been said? They're amazing and although all their cds are great, I'd definitely say "Transatlanticism" is my favorite. A certain someone has made me love this band more and more.. she's visiting me in exactly 18 days..
• Riddlin Kids (http://www.riddlinkids.com) - I'm really, really enjoying their new cd, "Stop The World." This band has shown alot of growth through the years.
• Relient K (http://www.relientk.com) - Their new cd "Mmhmm" is going to be awesome. The single (available on iTunes) "Be My Escape" is great.
Spencer:
• Ambulance LTD (http://www.ambulancenyc.com) - I came across this band through Live 105’s DJ Aaron Axelsen and after I purchased this LP it became one of those albums that only left my home stereo when I was putting it in my car or CD player. Ranging from influences of the Beatles, the Velvet Underground and other artists like Elliot Smith this quartet balances artistic integrity with a feel good, retro “summer kind of sound”. Like Interpol and the Strokes these guy represent the NY melodic/indy sound. I really think this band deserves more exposure than they have been getting, it’s almost impossible to skip a song on Ambulance LTD’s latest self-titled release.
• The Kite Eating Tree (http://www.thekiteeatingtree.com) - We all search for new bands through perusing magazines, skimming the front page of Purevolume.com, but I found this band through the notorious, addicting MySpace.com. This catchy, melodic LA based quartet actually sound very developed and proved they can write a catchy song without having to sacrifice intelligence. They remind me a little of Rival Schools with an essence of At the Drive-In’s Vaya. TKET’s song Sighs of the Curator is my personal favorite, I’ve never seen them live but I’m a new fan and I hope to play with them at some point in time.
• Circa Survive (http://www.circasurvive.com) – Check out Anthony’s (ex singer of Saosin) new melodic/experimental band if you haven’t already.
Craig:
I decided to let everyone know about some great Atlanta bands, you might know some, or maybe not, but check them all out, because they rock.
