Help w/ iTunes

I am not tech savvy.

I recently downloaded itunes. I noticed that it does this awesome (i.e. stupid) thing where it backs up all of my files in the itunes folder. All of my music is on an external hard drive because my laptop has limited memory space. So, my question is:

Is there any way to move my iTunes folder and have iTunes use it as the default folder for ripped files without just cutting/pasting and having to relocate every single file?

So you want to move the location of your library (also where you want ripped files to go) without having to re-import everything? Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General > iTunes Music Folder Location > Change. That should move everything and put everything there in the future when you rip or convert stuff.
