Interesting Nick Drake choice...

Why is this?

Well if I sit down and look at the lyrics to "Road", I don't really see the standout qualities of it, and it doesn't really do Drake much justice in my opinion...it's a little too easy I think...

I could post a ton of I&W songs...

The beauty in it is that there is so much behind those few words.

I've only really got into Iron and Wine recently, but I think I agree.

This is probably one of the more complex songs lyrically you've heard without really knowing it. It takes a serious amount of research to understand all the references, metaphors, meanings, etc. Lupe uses in it. Shoot, I still don't know all of the stuff he's really saying here even after looking this up for awhile. Critics were saying that he was too smart for his own good. They said people wouldn't be able to connect with him because his lyrics were too complex. This song is his refusal to cave, and go figure, it's complex as crap. That's why I can appreciate it so much. But Dumb It Down is just what came to my mind first. There is actually a slew of material from Lupe that I would consider to be personal favorites of mine for their lyrical content and cleverness. You have to hear "Mean & Vicious". It's from a mixtape. One of the most lyrically creative songs I've ever listened to. Period. In fact...

I know what the song was about and probably didn't get all the metaphors or meanings, but it just didn't strike me. Mean & Vicious is sweet though.
