I already didn't like the guy. Then I found out that Obama is for killing infants that survive abortion. We are not talking about an unborn baby here people. I am talking about a living, breathing, pooping, human being. How many people think murder is ok? That's what this is. Also how many people can actually trust a guy that gets on national tv and lies through his teeth about something he's voted for THREE times.

I agree with Obama. If an abortion was attempted and somehow the fetus survives but the doctor is convinced that it is not viable, they should not be legally required to waste expensive resources trying to save it. I trust doctors to make the right call in such situations, I don't think there should be laws forcing their hand.

It really is awful how an election can be ultimately decided based on that. For once I want people to vote on who would lead this country in the best direction, not on who is for/against gay marriage or abortion.

if the fetus is not viable, then it's probably going to die anyway. I'm not entirely sure how being realistic is "being a monster", especially since what you're advocating is using precious hospital resources to save a fetus that can't survive on its own outside a womb anyway.
of course, the only reason you care about this is because is for a cheap political ploy, as i really don't think you have a problem with how doctors often "let people die" when there's nothing else they can do.

in that situation, I still support trying to save the baby even with a small chance, but I understand what you are saying. My beef is more with people who claim that saving the child would be an unneccesary burden on the mother and the hospital even though the baby could be saved. in the grand scheme of things though, I have no interest in the abortion issue and generally don't even take a side. If I got pregnant right now, I'd get an abortion. Hate on it. I'm not ready for a kid and I'm not going to bring a child into this world if I can't afford it and then have the child and myself struggle for the rest of my life.

Hospital resources that go to one person cannot go to another, so since trade offs occur, you can't really be saving nonviable fetuses when those resources could be going to babies who are born with birth defects, etc.
i already took your opinion into consideration when i said that this decision was made on utilitarian grounds, not out of some hatred for the sanctity of life.

Because my point was relevant to the fact God has killed innocent babies before, some while they were still in the mother's womb. Now, of course you can say it was punishment for the Pharaoh denying God. I won't deny that. But God used abortion, simple. He used it for a purpose.
Obama believes abortion and infanticide can be used for a good purpose. Several people have already pointed out the negative things about trying to keep the aborted fetus(or baby), alive.

Because my point was relevant to the fact God has killed innocent babies before, some while they were still in the mother's womb. Now, of course you can say it was punishment for the Pharaoh denying God. I won't deny that. But God used abortion, simple. He used it for a purpose.

agreed, mostly. but back to the thread topic... aren't late-term abortions illegal in most states? so ideally, wouldn't these botched abortions more than likely be affecting fetuses younger than 6 months? if so, i find it hard to believe that there's a great chance at viability even in the freak occurence that they're "born alive," given that the chance of a fetus at that age surviving is incredibly slim.
also, not a single dead baby joke yet. i figured given the subject, this would be like a PL thread going a page without "anal."

I personally wouldn't encourage a chick I knocked to abort a baby. However, everyone makes big mistakes and live with the consequences. People's lives are all different and all too complex in whether they should keep a baby or not when these kind of things happen. Everyone likes to think their personal morality would prevent them from ever killing someone. Ok, not everyone, but this is a moral point which is always generalizing.Some people believe in Objective Moralty, that there is one set of laws which is best for everyone. So they try and enforce their rigid laws against murder on everyone. While you can make this a philosophical question, it is far too easy for it to be made NOT one, so it will never get addressed in this way due to our sound byte driven political system.

I enjoyed Bill Hicks take on abortions "pro-choice" sentiment which boiled down to basically the Earth just doesn't need any more people, and its easier to kill them young. That's a non-PC sentiment. I'm pro-choice because I recognize that a woman should be able to make decisions about her body and because illegalizing something doesn't stop it from happening. I don't like abortion, but if someone wants one, they should have every right to get one.

so to clear up. "I hate the gooks...I will hate them as long as I live". unfortunately i cant take credit for that brilliant ideal. those would be the words of john mccain. the point of the posts was to show in this day that so many people miss the real issues at hand. if a person wont vote for obama for his "terrorist fist bump" or lack of an american flag on his wing then maybe they should not vote for mccain for hating "gooks" (i know he was tortured, still thats not cool). or at least at the very minimum, educate yourself on all of obamas stances before making a decision... and if a person is not willing to put in the effort my advice is to not vote at all.

I've educated myself on Obama and McCain. Obama is best fit to lead by far, so he gets my support.

The idea (called one possible plan by Obama) would raise more than $1 trillion over 10 years by subjecting income of more than $97,000 (5% of the population) to a 12.4 percent tax. Half of the tax would be paid by employees and half would be paid by employers.
Reasonable starting block for a plan to raise income for the country. Everyone acts as though all taxes are bad ... except they are unilaterally needed.
