theAudition (http://www.theauditionrock.com), Chicago's newest up and coming band, has been in talks with a handful of BIG indie labels. Watch this band close in the next few weeks to see who they sign with. Also if you havent heard the band, then check them out on pureVOLUME (www.purevolume.com/theaudition).

Hell yeah...these guys rock. We're playing a show with them in wheaton in a couple of weeks, that should be hella awesome. And to the guy who says the sound like everyone else...if you know enough bands, everyone starts to sound a little bit like everyone else...it's hard to make completely original music that is listenable...in the words of Pip from airheads "I ain't fartin' on no snare drum!"

All in Your Head is a good ep, but these guys have lots of potential

Nope, my name is Mike and I play drums in The Reception. We got added when Hit the Lights didn't confirm, so we're opening up the show
**Warning: Shameless plug to follow**
If you want to check us out, we are on www.purevolume.com/thereceptionchicago
And if you want to help us feel not lame, you can be our friend on www.myspace.com/thereception
And I just ask you keep in mind we recorded these in our guitarist basement about 6 months ago and have been saving up money for studio time since. We are going to have a new song up at the end of the week...hopefully
**Shameless plug is over**
So yeah, if you're around, get there at 6, cuz while I don't want to toot my own horn, I think we rock socks. flame away (runs and hides)

Well you have a broader taste in music that I do, b/c I personally don't like Bjork, The Blood Brothers or Circle Takes The Square and am luke warm on DEP after having seen them live

it helps to listen to more than emo, painting yourself into a corner with music is the worst thing one can do.

I think I listen to more than emo...maybe I'm incorrect, (not trying to prove my sceneworthiness), here's some bands I think fall outside of emo
Mars Volta
Dredg
Year of the Rabbit
Paris, Texas
The Bled
Postal Service/Death Cab
Modest Mouse
Appleseed Cast
The Grand Silent System
Arks (from chicago)
Pretty Girls....
Wilco (I'm sure some people consider this emo, whatever)
And I do like some of the bands previously listed, just not all of them.
So I'm sure you may classify some of those above bands as emo, and that's fine, but I think I listen to a pretty wide variety of music
But I'm always open for suggestions, so if you have any, let em fly

hey-
i agree everyone should be on the look out for a signing to occur very soon, lord knows they deserve it. i had the opportunity to catch their live show twice last time they were in michigan, and i got to know them throughout the course of the weekend. they plan on making it, and they will. they're determined and talented. keep your eye on these boys.

One of my friends is from the Chicago area and had me listen to their CD...it was AWESOME! "One Hundred Dollar Guarantee" (I think that's the name of the song) is an awesome song and their cover of "Maneater" kicks ass!

ahahahahhahahahhaa. I can name many a chicago band that are much better than the audition.
for example:
She Likes Todd (http://www.shelikestodd.com)
Everyone should listen to this band. The demo is on the site, but their CD is way better. Chicago Punk Rock is coming back my friends.
