Ok here's a thread. You write a little paragraph about yourself.
For example:
My name's Erich. I'm 18. I go to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. I'm a meteorology major, that's why I'm here and not in Arizona where I've lived most of my life. I've always wanted to be a meteorologist so I'm going after my dream. Right now I'm living in a dorm. My roommate is my total opposite (athletic, Republican, small town) but we get along great. My grades aren't real good but I'm managing.

My name is Andrea. I'm 20. I'm a double major in English and History. I want to be a music journalist. I often get labeled as a bitch because I'm bluntly honest and I say the things that people are often afraid to say. When people talk to me online and then meet me IRL, they're extremely surprised because I'm not what they expected. I'm addicted to getting piercings and buying CDs. I'm in a sorority (Pi Beta Phi) but God help you if you judge me based on that, because I am so far from being the typical sorority girl, it's ridiculous. I like anything hot pink and black, Ramen noodles, zebra print, candy corn, giant muscle cars from the 70's, and shaggy haired little "emo boys". That's all I can really think of at 10:48 AM.
Is that enough of a paragraph?

My real name is unpronouncable in any human language, and cannot be expressed with any letters. However, you can call me "Tony". I'm a sophomore at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, where I major in Biology. I live in a University-owned apartment right across the street from campus, with my roommate who also posts here. I don't enjoy Physics or Organic Chemistry, and for some strange reason I really like Spanish. I haven't read a book all the way through that I had not read before, since last year, and that makes me sad. Hopefully I shall go through UT's exchange-esque program and get to study Biology next year at the University of Salford, in Salford (near Manchester), England, UK. I like women. I"m a capricorn, with blood type AB+. Yeah, that's about it.
I'm bored at work so here goes.
My name is Aileen. I am 20 years old, born and raised on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii. Currently in my third year at New York University studying music business. No, I do not know the Olsen Twins. I go back to Hawaii for a total of about 6-7 weeks a year, so if you think you're far from home I don't want to hear about it. I work part time as an A&R scout at a major recording label. I go to a ridiculous number of shows per month and I enjoy doing live concert photography. You can see my photos at my website, the link is in my signature below. I'll probably end up living in New York City for the majority of my life, but I'd like to live in Chicago for a few years before I settle in Manhattan. I'm dating a boy who is always on tour and I miss him all the time but he is wonderful.
Oh, I'm also a Red Sox fan.

Dude I live right near oneonta. Small world. I can definitely relate to what you said about not wanting to be 20...I turn 20 in less than a month, it's crazy.
being 20 really isn't that bad you know. it was definitely strange at first saying "i'm twenty" but i had been a teenager for so long that it was nice to have a mature sounding age for once. i can't believe how quickly the year has gone by, i turn 21 in three months. today is my roommate's 20th birthday and my other roommate just turned 20 a couple weeks ago. i'm old.

well.. i'm andrea, i'm almost on the verge of 21, i go to the university of florida, where i major in watching a lot of college football and partying, i drink a lot, i spend too much money on useless things, i have a cat named cleo that lives with my parents and i miss her terribly, i like to write about nothing in particular, especially in run-on sentences, i made a casserole once, i danced ballet for 16 years, and i don't date boys, i just spend the night with them.

see if you can do a semester school exchange thing at nyu through your college. i know nyu has a program like that where students from other schools can come study at nyu for a semester or year. i don't know details but if you really want to, you should check that out.

why did you settle for NYU? Seriously...if you're gonna dish out so much cash and be fooled in thinking "ya NYU is amazing" you are fucking retarded. I'm sorry but that's the truth...40 grand a year for a non-ivy league school is not worth your time and effort. I know business grads from there and apparantly NYU has shitty connections which gives you crappy internships and crappy firms. Transfer to an ivy league asap then come back to NY later.

I'm Dave, I am 18 years of age and I go to Worcester Polytechnical Institute in Worcester, Mass. In high school I was a 3 sport athlete and did very well in school. I am currently looking to transfer to Bates College which is closer to my home town of Oakland, Maine. I am currently an engineering major, but I figure I will change to either political science or history should I transfer. I plan on going to Law school or something of that sorts somewhere down the line. I play guitar in a local band and have a girlfriend who I have been dating for close to 2 years now....yeah...

i didn't settle for nyu. i grew up on a rock in the middle of the pacific ocean and it was my dream to move to nyc and attend nyu. now that i've spent three years here, i will be the first to tell other people that the school is overrated not to mention overpriced - it's going to be hell trying to pay back these loans i'm taking out. but i'm not going to go bashing someone else's dream if nyu is where they want to be. i enjoy the courses i take and have studied with some incredible professors. i am doing an independent study major in music business, and last i checked ivy leagues weren't offering that. i wouldn't have gotten into an ivy league anyway nor would i have wanted to be at one. i have friends IN the business school and all of them currently have or have had great internships in the city.
so quit preaching about something you know nothing about.

Hey if you couldn't do better than NYU...that's fine. But in the city you have other choices such as Columbia...yes they're not known for business but it's an ivy league school...Columbia would knock the shit outta NYU just cause of it's name...I'm not preaching that's the truth. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about when you agree that NYU is overrated and overpriced. My brother went to NYU and he couldn't even last a semester...he had all A's...he didn't mind the city...he just knew that in the end he could do better elsewhere...get a good education at a fraction of the cost...yes, you can put a price on someone's knowledge...my brother then went to a state school and is now attending medical school...he's fairly content. You're all for the artsy stuff so NYU would be ok...but most ivy league schools are liberal arts schools as well and their names alone would give you such an edge in life. I'm telling you what I know...that's all.

My real name is Graham, I'm 18 and still in highschool. I'm just doing my 'victory lap' right now, I already graduated. Doing all the math and science crap, planning to go into software engineering. I had no social life until february of this year (before that all my time was wasted with my ex). But after that I started hanging out with my friends on a regular basis, and driving around with friends blasting Brand New was what got me back into this music. My friend has a HUGE cd collection consisting of the majority of the stuff in the 'punk' section at HMV, which is where I got to know a lot of the music I listen to now (that, and the fact that I'm approaching 5,000 mp3s). I live just outside of Toronto and have a lot of free time these days to be online posting crap. The majority of my friends are away at school, but its cool going to visit them. I'm really looking forward to next semester when I'll have 24 hour free time (except that my parents want me to work) I can't wait to get out of here. Anyway, thats all for now, I doubt any has read this far.

see my problem is that i do feel that mature and i don't know that i ever was going to feel like this and now that i do i don't really know how to feel. oh well. twenty it is. truthfully though i don't think you can be called "legally" mature until you are twenty-two, twenty-three or so.

What is your friends handle?
Amanda Marshall Song!!! I'll post the lyrics when I get home!
As I promised:
...
Now who could read the mind of the red-headed girl next door
Or the taxi driver who just dropped you off
Or the classmate that you ignore
Don't assume everything on the surface is what you see
'Cause that classmate just lost her mother
And that taxi driver's got a PhD
I'm so tired of the fear
That weighs us down with wrong assumptions
Of broken hearts, a natural function
....
See my eyes, don't see what I see
Touch my tongue, don't know what tastes good to me
It's the human condition that keeps us apart
And everybody's got a story that could break your heart

i didn't settle for nyu. i grew up on a rock in the middle of the pacific ocean and it was my dream to move to nyc and attend nyu. now that i've spent three years here, i will be the first to tell other people that the school is overrated not to mention overpriced - it's going to be hell trying to pay back these loans i'm taking out. but i'm not going to go bashing someone else's dream if nyu is where they want to be. i enjoy the courses i take and have studied with some incredible professors. i am doing an independent study major in music business, and last i checked ivy leagues weren't offering that. i wouldn't have gotten into an ivy league anyway nor would i have wanted to be at one. i have friends IN the business school and all of them currently have or have had great internships in the city.
so quit preaching about something you know nothing about.

My name is shane, i am 16, i live in Connecticut and go to a private boarding school Suffield Academy where I am a senior. i am looking to attend Miami Univ., Elon Univ, or Seton Hall next fall for journalism. Private school is like living with a bunch of arrogant pricks who are to good for everyone else cause they have money and control everything that you can possibly think of. But it has given me a good education and connection with the world outside of my town. I also enjoy traveling, i have been to 10 countries and i am a varsity baseball player that enjoys taking band photography...end of my story

I am currently playing football, but my heart is in baseball. I've been recieving letters from college to play (ucla being one) since my sophmore year. My parents have been divorced since I was in 1st grade. I've never been on a date nor have I had a girlfriend. I am homophobic. I recently quit smoking, and I'm awesome. My mom says I'm the most handsome kid in my class.
How can your team be good if you only have 65 kids in your entire school? Your "sold out" football games must be amazing.

Even if you hate Eminem, you have to admit he can freestyle with the best of them, and can write some tight lines. I'm not really into too much Wu Tang, and the extent of my love of Bone Thugs was the songs "Crossroads", "Resurrection (Paper, Paper)", and the Krayzie Bone/Ice Cube song "Until We Drop"
I also abhor almost all new party rap, garbage that it is. I want Lil' Jon and all his cronies to have a party and die in a house fire.

Okay, so here's my story...and it could be a long one because I've got lots of time to waste. :) My name is Kara and I'm 20, soon to be 21 in about 3 months. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, have sex and so forth, so I guess I'm a fairly straight edge type of person. I go to Indiana Institue of Technology where I'm studying mechanical engineering. What I actually want to do, however, is to get my BS in Mechanical Engineering then go back and take the classes I missed to also get my BS in Biomedical Engineering. What I'd really love to do is to engineer prosthetics for athletes. I'd also like to go back to school and get a minor in Japanese because I took 2 years of it in high school and really enjoyed it, plus it would probably be helpful for my career. I also play soccer here at Indiana Tech and have been playing since I was 5 years old. That's actually what got me out to this wretched state of Indiana since I'm originally from Washington state. I'd also like to play on a PDL (semi-pro) soccer team someday, possibly next summer or after I graduate. I think that's good...any questions? lol
Oh! I'm also a Christian, but you wouldn't be able to tell by the words that often come out of my mouth. :)

I'm telling you what I know...that's all.
i don't get it, does it bother you that i'm paying 40+ grand a year to attend nyu over columbia? your brother and i are not the same person, in case you couldn't tell. there were REASONS that i chose not to even bother applying to columbia. for one, it's not in the center of manhattan. two, it doesn't offer any classes that i'd be remotely interested in. going to an ivy league school means you are getting a liberal arts education. i DIDN'T want a liberal arts education, i wanted something different and out of the ordinary. by attending nyu, i was able to create my own major and pick my own classes, and i chose to study MUSIC BUSINESS - a major that's only offered at a handful of universities in this country as it is. and none of those colleges are ivy leagues. the only people who get anything good out of what school name is on their diploma are kids trying to get six figure jobs who will work out of cubicles before they get anywhere close to that corner office. i don't know about you, but i prefer wearing a t-shirt and jeans to work, going to rock shows at night, and getting paid to do so and love my job thank you very much.
sorry i offended you by choosing to attend nyu.

ya the difference between you and I is that my parents are an hour's drive away and it's pretty much their way or no way (ya I could just say fuck them and do everything on my own...I just don't have the cajones to do that). I mean...if you're happy and content with NYU then good for you...I just have this personal beef with NYU and I don't even know where it came from. It's just everyone talks about it like it's something uber-special when it really isn't. One of my friend's from HS is going there...he got what...3 grand in scholarships not even...and thinks he'll just take the loans out for the rest. He wants to do law...and that just bugs me cause I figure...if you want law...go ivy or don't go. I have a weird mindset when it comes to school and stuff. One thing that helps you live your lifestyle is that you're a woman...you're gonna marry a guy who has that little cubicle job (if you want a family and a house)...if not...if you honestly think you can survive in this dream job forever without having to give in at some point...good luck but I really feel that it's unrealistic for an extended period of time.

well i'm glad you think i haven't come across as a bitch yet, cause you're really pushing me to it. do you realize how easy it would be for me to just drop out of school, say fuck it and get a job? i already HAVE a job in the industry i want to work in for the rest of my life, and yet i choose to attend nyu full time. part of it is because i respect myself too much to drop out, and a lot of it is because i respect my parents too much to drop out after all the effort they've made to earn the money it takes to get me through a private school education. it was hard enough as it is for them to make the decision to let me move across the country to a big city that's constantly under terrorist alert.
a personal beef with nyu shouldn't be burdened on someone who is happy with their decision to attend the school. i agree that nyu's hype is huge, but at the same time i understand that it's because we've had a lot of publicity in the last year due to the olsen twins and the 7 suicides we've had. even with those two things in mind, they don't personally affect my education and i'm really happy with decision to attend to nyu. my parents are proud of me as well. most kids from hawaii don't get the chance to leave the state for college, if at all.
if your friend wants to go to nyu and study law, that's his choice and it has nothing to do with you. it's a respectable university with a great law school, not to mention it's in the center of manhattan which allows him countless open doors for potential networking and job opportunities. he doesn't need an ivy league education to become successful and well-respected in a law career.
finally, i can't believe you would stoop so low as to pull into this the fact that i'm a woman. are you serious!? what does that even have to do with anything? i am YEARS away from marriage and i plan to support myself with a solid job far before i even consider getting married. what am i giving in to in order to keep my dream job? the fact that i'm 20 years old and already have my foot WAY into the door of a hard-assed industry is practically a dream come true for me as it is. it has nothing to do with some guy with a cubicle job. chance are i won't want to marry some guy with a cubicle job anyway.
as for hanging out with you on long island, no thanks.

i dont post here very often. but I am Aileen's roommate. I too attend NYU and I pretty much agree that its overpriced and sometimes overrated. I am studying music technology and audio production. Now...sure, NYU has its problems, but I would never have done better at an Ivy League. I couldve gotten into Yale for a discount, because of family connections...but honestly, I want to be a producer/engineer. First of all, NYC is the place to be, second of all, I dont want to go to Columbia (nor do they offer it). Like the music business program, music tech programs are sparse and focused in NYC and LA. ANd not in Ivy Leagues. NYU works for people. You have no experience yourself with NYU, so you don't know what you are talking about. Your friends...your brother... is not you. Its different for different people.
and that fucking woman comment, thats fucked up and so ignorant. You obviously have no experience with art/creative related jobs. I will never have a cubicle job, and even if I do marry someone who does...doesn't mean I have to give up MY dream. You can be a musician/producer/engineer/etc. and still have a family, a house, and a life. You don't have one clue about what you are saying. Its possible and its been done before.
