I'm looking for some recommendations for ambient kind of stuff, instrumental or otherwise. Something similar to Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf, maybe Explosions in the Sky, but less guitars and more piano. I know that's not very specific, but I'm having a hard time finding good stuff. A Lily.
It's a guy from Yndi Halda, his electronica side-project.
And seconded on Eluvium, possibly Amiina as well, they are Sigur Ros' orchestra.

don't mean to hijack the thread, but I too would love some more bands along the same lions of The Album Leaf, not so much Sigur Ros though, as i'm not really a fan.

Stars of the Lid, as many have said, is all you need.

Good but in no way ambient. Ambient is stuff like Eno, Stars of the Lid, Eluvium, etc. I've never seen them classified other than in post-rock.

And is ambient electronica being added in these rec's? If not, do so for me.

Yes, that's definitely included. And whoever said Saxon Shore, good call, I've been a fan of them for a while. So yeah...more stuff that like would be good.

Cats and Cats and Cats, they have a sweet split with This Town Needs Guns, but they're not ambient. And Giraffes? Giraffes!
