Schedule for Democratic National Convention
(http://www.cnbc.com/id/26311221)
Michelle Obama is supposed to be speaking tonight. I'm looking forward to her speech and seeing how this whole thing kicks off the next stage of the election. Plus further on Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden should all be making their respective speeches. Joe Biden appearance should be interesting since this will be it'll really be his first big presentation as VP on his own.

On Sunday at 1 in the morning, some guy was arrested outside Denver on a suspicion of DUI. Dude didn't have a known address. Guy was driving on a suspended license, and and a prior arrest. Car was searched, found guns, ammo, and drugs. Two other guys were also arrested, by a bunch of local and federal cops. One guy fled his hotel room when feds tried to get him.
And the local cops can't comment because its a federal case now.

I thought the speech was just ok. I did like how she kept it casual. She was a very good speaker, however, seemed very confident. I did like the line about treating people with dignity and respect even if you disagree with them. A lot of people (people on this site for one) could learn from that. His daughters cracked me up, also.
Side note: I recommend "Audacity of Hope" for anyone who wants to learn more about Obama's views. It's a well-written and fascinating book.

I agree, but I think tonight was completely necessary. I always go to CNN's Political Ticker to see what the low information voters think of a story, and you can tell right there it was a success. Michelle really won a lot of people over and even inspired some as much as Hillary has.

In case no one saw, what I was just referring to was one of the delegates. She said that her speech tonight was a 'presidential speech' and that Hillary did 'what she needed to do' and that Obama 'should do what he needs to do now' alluding to him stepping down, making Hillary the Presidential nominee. She then went on to say she will still vote for Hillary at the convention, but she WON'T vote for McCain (thank god) but she doesn't know if she will vote at all now in the Presidential election. This will be her only time not voting in her lifetime.
I guess this won't make them come around.

I don't mind that at all, considering that women still aren't equal. Women can relate to what she's saying, so that's why she keeps bringing it up. It makes sense.
Besides, that's not half as bad as McCain's use of the "POW" line. Now that one needs to stop being repeated and used as an answer for every question out there.

I think the problem with that, though, is that that gives them a much stronger tie to Hillary. It's like women don't think men want them to be equal, and electing a woman is the only way to get equal rights for them. That's how I see it, at least.

again. I WAS REFERRING TO THE CNN COMMENTATORS. Some were guys. Everyone keeps asking ever senator, every person that spoke about Hillary being VP. He's already picked his VP I don't want to continue hearing about Hillary. She's not the nominee, she's not going to be the VP and never will. There is no reason to continue talking about this point. And sure, poor taste of wording by me, but they are acting like what I refer to as cunts, which I do not view as a sexist remark. So my bad if that offends others and I'll refrain from using that in the future.
We are obviously going to disagree on the meaning. I followed the context of what she was saying, and that is how it came across for me. It wasn't until later when the question was asked who she would vote for that the point of Obama needing him to convince her came up. Even then, that makes no sense, because he has all the ideals, and the only reason she doesn't want to vote for him was because 'he isn't ready.' Hellooooo, Clinton hasn't had that much experience either. Neither has many of our Presidents when they were elected. She isn't any more qualified to run the country as he is. They both stand for the same general ideals and there is no reason why she shouldn't vote for Obama come November.
Was she not paying attention in the debates or something? Why does he need to convince her even more than what they did during the primary? What more is there to prove. This woman needs to learn to vote on the issues.

He is what I would call a "dickbag."

i've never liked clinton much because she's always been willing to hop on the censorship bandwagon whenever it suited her.......but i'm pretty sure i'd vote for her (if i was allowed to anyways) over mccain.......which is weird because i used to think mccain was just about the only decent republican out there.
That sounds about right. But then again for every ten people who think like this, you're going to get someone like this:

obama's fisa vote was incredibly dissappointing to me to.....but even my jaded heart is still hoping it was a move made to put the moneymen at ease in order to get elected, and once elected obama will betray them, kinda like how jfk went back on his promises to his funders after elected but without the whole getting killed for it thing happening........it's far fetched and probably pure fantasy on my part i know.......but either way obama will most likely be at least a teeny bit better then mccain if elected.

I hope that too, and while it seems like its a bit better than McCain, no one can tell as they're both making their respective sprints towards bizarre positions no one within their parties agrees with. I'm reminded of the lyrics in Minor Threat's "In My Eyes" ... "You just change for the same". But I enjoy depressing, so consider me a doomsayer.

yeah it's depressing but it's the nature of the beast that is our electoral system.....and it's not going to change much until we get some real campaign finance reform that's free of loopholes enacted and some equal time regulations put in place.

Only reason I said that was I kind of agree with them. I'm not asking them to ram it down my throat, and I understand that this is supposed to be about Democrats and what they stand for, but this is a historic election, even beyond the fact of Obama. They need to be hitting on how bad the current administration has been, and in waves. I thought Warner could have helped that, considering he got a slot on the cable news networks. But then again, I talked to a friend about it who works in Va. politics and she said that's not Warner's style. So it was what it was.

Which wife?
Let me find a source, fairly sure its the current one.
Yep:

Full quote
"At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, 'You're getting a little thin up there,'" Schechter writes. "McCain's face reddened, and he responded, 'At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.' McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days."
He has several others, and that was just the first source to pop up.

i think everyone (even the uninformed) realize how bad the last 8 years has been....which is reflected in the bush administrations low approval ratings.
if the dems are going to repeatedly harp on anything it should be in explaining how mccain offers the same thing as bush instead of simply stating that's what he's offering.
Alright put it this way, I think if the position were switched there would be more people on the obama side willing to switch and not be as ridiculous than there would be on the Clinton side.
I think it probably would have been about the same. Lots of Obama supporters I know hate Hillary.

Why does he bring that POW thing up so many times?
I like this op-ed on McCain's POW story ... from someone there with him:
I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate.

Because no one wants to ask about it...it kills whatever line of questioning he is on. It is his trump card and he is using it up fast. It is just as low as if Obama pulled out the race card to deflect questions on Ayers or the like.
