please tell me you are joking..
anyway, from what i was told, they are rerecording keasby nights. so rad
Actually, if you go to their website, they have this to say
10.02.04
"2"
hi guys, the following is very esoteric, be forewarned:
(thank you, knowles, for the vocabulary word)
the whole "2" debacle is half truth, half fiction. very few people know what actually is going down and those people, ironically, are the only ones keeping quiet. people will speculate and talk trash regardless, so be it. at the end of the day, we're simply doing something we believe in, a part of a whole that won't be entirely unveiled for quite some time. everyone sit tight, it'll all come together eventually, then you can judge.
this we can tell you:
a) there are no numbers involved. don't even ask how that happened, it's ridiculous
b) no new songs, really. but you'll be surprised, hopefully pleasantly.
c) we're doing this to prevent you from spending money unnecessarily. you'll understand that soon as well.
d) trust us. we try to do the right thing as much as possible, and our number one priority, as always, is the music.
i guess that about covers it, for now. pay attention, things will be announced when they're announced. and, as we learned over the last few days, never trust ANYONE'S news regarding sm unless you hear it here.
So they are re-recording Keasby Nights.
see, this is a brillant idea.
catch 22 was thomas' band.
when he left, they should have broken up.
but they continued to write songs
and they completely changed catch 22.
now catch is a heaping pile of dog shit
and if you haven't heard of them
and buy their new cd, you'll find out they suck
and won't want to listen to their older shit
that thomas wrote.
also, the new catch is singing the songs that thomas wrote
and he can no longer sing and take credit for.
so by streetlight rerecording keasby nights
he is rightfully taking back what is his.
FUCKING GENIUS!

Wow thats crazy, I think its alittle risky though I love Streetlight Manifesto. You are taking what people believe "one of the best ska records" and you are re-recording it. People dont like changes on good things like this, but like they said, have faith so I will.

if streetlight were to redo the classic keasbey night-era songs, i'm sure that they would be better and much longer. Streetlight's lyrics and horn parts are much more complex than anything on Keasbey Nights. In my opinion, it would be a step backwards for streetlight as a band just to get "revenge" or whatever on Catch 22. They have to be doing something more with the songs.
Plus, did anyone every notice how streetlight's point/counterpoint resembled Catch 22's song "keasbey nights?" hmmm

They already denied it, so, yeah...

I submitted this news like 2 weeks ago...i dunno what happened but heres what i know for what its worth. I received the sell sheet from victory records, which did indeed state the name of the record being Keasbey Nights 2. The sell sheet had the track listing as well, which included all the track in the original order with the exception of 12341234 which apparently isnt going to be on the record at all. One of the quotes on the sell sheet read:
"Tomas Kalnoky made it his mission to re-record and re-release his work from Catch 22's Keasbey Nights using Streetlight Manifesto's talent"

I hear "Everything Goes Numb" is a continuation of the "Keasbey Nights" story. So it would only make sense.

Fuck that, if you've listened to the Streetlight album you should know they can do no wrong.
This is fucking awesome.
