View Full Version : What politics sites do you visit daily?

I am always looking for some good sites to read besides the usual CNN, MSNBC, etc.
I personally like RealClearPolitics (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/) since it rolls up a bunch of interesting stories and pieces on both sides of the spectrum.
Anyone else got some good ones? Maybe a good site for political cartoons?

Generally I read:
In These Times
Alternet
Feministe
Talking Points Memo
Think Progress
Sadly No
Wonkette
In These Times (http://www.inthesetimes.com/) is just a terrific site for both investigative and editorial writing. I happen to think that 99% of political cartoons are crap, but the ones on ITT are solid if you like that sort of thing. My favorite politics site.
Alternet (http://www.alternet.org/)'s article quality varies, but mostly their stuff is at least worth hearing out for a non-conventional view, even if you ultimately disagree. As with about every politics site, I'd say avoid the comments section.
Feministe (http://www.feministe.us/blog/) is a great, unabashedly feminist blog. Sometimes their guest-bloggers are a little below the curve, but their principal writers are sharp. Oh, and contrary to my previous advice, Feministe actually draws some pretty brilliant commenters (and of course, some pretty obnocious trolls).
Talking Points Memo (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/) and Think Progress (http://thinkprogress.org/) are solid, well-written blogs from a left-of-center perspective. Nothing groundbreaking goes on, but they're dependable and very professional.
And rounding out my RSS feed are Sadly No (http://www.sadlyno.com/) and Wonkette (http://wonkette.com/), which are dependably funny and occasionally prescient.

Gee, you are sooooo right, working in the D.C. media, I NEVER talk to the ACTUAL reporters from a plethora of different subjects about what's going on the world.
I think most of them are chipped already.

The mormons control all news. You only hear what they want you to hear. You are blind to the obvious truth.

this is the website I work on: http://www.wtopnews.com (http://www.wtopnews.com/) While the station is basically known for being the outlet for traffic, it still has its connections. Russert did his last interview on my station before he died. Blitzer, Bob Scheiffer, countless people from CNN, Politico, U.S. News & World Report, always are in touch with us. On top of that, it's just a fantastic place to work.

Sweet, sounds awesome. I'll look for more from you this election season. Too bad you couldn't go to the convention.

Ha, I'm not that special yet, no paid trips. I don't know if you checked that one article out from Eugene Robinson on that RCP site, great article.

The guy who founded Politico graduated from my college. I met him at a schmooze-fest in DC last spring and I felt like such an insider. He might be the most famous Carleton alum since Thorstein Veblen.
