Kill and Eat - Green Bushes

Who?
Jazz-minded revolutionaries who make a big deal on their website, and on the folded piece of printer paper their album arrived in, that they’re firmly against putting things out that have album artwork (“Album art is unnecessary!”). Plus they don’t have a Myspace - awwwww shit!
How is it?
The music is pretty much awesome. It builds on itself providing a tranquil soundtrack to the end of your day, even if several instances are more than a little bit repetitive. “Green Bushes – Sketch” is almost eight-minutes of the same piano refrain and accompanying vocal “Bop bop baaah,” and it stays way past its welcome; but the 18-minute stretch of a title track (which varies in name from the above-mentioned track only because it does not include the word “Sketch”) is beautiful; it sounds like Pink Floyd on that group’s insanely experimental (meaning they let the piano do something) Ummagumma, but better.
Hearing so many riffs and melodies and 1-5 progressions, it’s inevitable you start needing to distance yourself from your standard variety every now and then, and if you don’t feel like diving all the way into the jazz archives at your library (and if you’ve already gone through the Sonic Youth discography multiple times like I have), Kill and Eat is your perfect remedy.
