Hello, everyone. One of my good friends is getting ready to study abroad and he has been concerned about the health of his family. His grandfather's health is fine but his mother has a mental illness and she has been acting really strange from it. Her mental illness is debilitating and it's been putting a lot of pressure/stress on his father. He's really torn about what to do. Any thoughts/words of advice?

Just lay off of the 'yo momma' jokes around your friend.

Other than that, sorry I can't help, I have no clue what debilitating is. Sorry

The mental illness is clearly siphillis. Therefore, the dad should catch it too so that they can go crazy together.

Tell him to start praying to God, so he can be disappointed when his mom croaks by running out in to traffic naked, covered in nacho cheese. Then, he can have an existential crisis while he's abroad and waste great opportunities attempting to "find himself"...once again he will be disappointed, since "finding oneself" is negligible and pointless. He will eventually arrive at the conclusion that sometimes shit happens...and then you move on.

commit the mom, send gramps to a nice old folks community, and send his dad to a strip club.

Don't you love it when things have a neat and easy solution?

He should go and try to put it out of his thoughts. My biggest regret is not going abroad, and he'll be home in six months.

dude, what could anyone on here really do to help? if they are sick, that sucks, but they need a doctor or therapist if they want serious help.

he needs to go. he can't fix what's wrong with her, and he will end up resenting his family more than he probably already does if he passes up the opportunity.

Leave. The Dad will probably kill the Mom, or possible the either way around.
Either way, one will die and one will get taken away.

Problem solved.

I think he/she should go. If something happens, he/she can always come back.

He needs to go. This is more something for his father to figure out at this point. If he is old enough to study abroad, he is mature enough to distance himself enough from the situation to not have to make a decision on this one. He can support his dad just as well from abroad. It might even make his dad's decision making process go more smoothly without her son present. She sounds like she really needs help.

well I'm assuming with the mental illness your mom hears voices... so take away her meds and record yourself telling her to kill your dad/grandpa and keep playing it over and over and eventually it'll happen...

Oh right. It's been a while since I've been on here.

Updated version:
Kill his/her entire family. Cut their dogs head off back it up nicely in those large size zip lock bags that hold fuckin' cantaloupes or some shit and then roll down your back window a bit, stick the bag a little in the window roll it up again with the dogs head on the outside... drive down the highway blasting Nightranger and when you get to the airport with the family's corpses in the backseat drop them off at departures and toss the head to the parking clerk as payment on your way out. Real.
