But did he more or less imply that she can't sing?
no he didnt. he said she would have had to "choke through the song". if you knew how to read, and actually applied that skill to reading the other material regarding her performance, she had some acid-reflux problems giving her a sore throat. whether or not that is true, thats not for me to decide, but that is clearly what her father was talking about.
I don't think the kids will care.
But did he more or less imply that she can't sing?
"Just like every other artist in America she has backing tracks ... so you don't have to hear her croaking through a song on national television. She never used them before, but you have to do what you have to do."
A) Every other artist? Yeah, like we can believe that. I'm sure there are plenty of pop artists that don't use backing tracks
B) Haha way to inspire confidence. But wait...
C) You just said she didn't need them before? Does she or doesn't she?

I'm not buying. Second, cancel your performance don't fake it.

They're blaming it on an Acid Reflux problem, some disease she has actually. Ashlee actually says she could hardly talk, yet alone sing that night.
That's kinda of funny though because when she was blaming the band for the problem at the end of the show, she seemed to be speaking perfectly.
hmmmm interesting...

I guess that retarded dancing she was doing was because of all that acid in her stomach. It all makes sense now.

I think if ashley was really sick geffen would know about it, but they blamed it on the machine and didnt once mention her little disease. I hate how her father made it seem like every artist out thier cant sing so they use backing vocals...which is of course bullshit.

I saw her talking about it on the today show and she was blamming the whole thing on the drummer pressing the wrong button. My question to her is...even if the drummer did press a wrong button, in what way does that excuse you from using a machine for your performance in the first place?
and also, when was the last time you guys went to a show and the artists used a backing track?? ...NEVER. so obviously not every artist in america.
it's sad that people buy into the shit they are fed.

have you ever heard of the band The Receiving End Of Sirens? they're name gets tossed around ap.net once in a while. anyway, they are serious legitimate musicians and their drummer and synth player use a "machine" so they stay together when they play live. it's not uncommon and it doesnt make anybody any less of a good musician.

what she had was so she didn't have to sing, not for following along. I know a lot of drummers use machines to keep them on beat, but they don't hook it up to the amplifier and have it play instead them---that was my point

I think the interesting thing will be the fallout on the pop scene. It's kinda like pro wrestling how everyone knows it's fake, but they don't really talk about it. Everyone knows pop stars use backing tracks but they don't really like to admit it. It'll be interesting to see what pop singers who do have good voices say. Like Usher or Justin Timberlake (they have good voices right??) If MTV has any balls, they'll ask other pop singers what they think and how they use backing tracks.

Wait...yoou're saying that wrestling is fake? Does Chad Gilbert know this yet?
What I don't understand is that last time she had acid reflux she wasn't allowed to talk for 3 or 4 days so that she could perform her first concert and not completely ruin her vocal chords. She also cancelled her MTV performance, so why would you not cancel something that doesn't have your key audience or people that would buy your record? I'd hate to be the drummer if he actually did do something wrong 'cause his ass is gonna be gone.

she should've exposed a boob.
yes.
i hear swallowing record label executive's cum can lead to acid-reflux disease.

at work yesterday, these 2 women whispered for a bit while i rang their purchase up (i work at urban outfitters)...i realized they were talking about me. One of the women goes "hey, has anyone told you that you look like ashlee simpson?" thats like the 10th time someone, randomly, has said that to me.
the thing is... a) i can actually sing b)i act/look like I do....and have been BEFORE ashlee simpson was around. bastard.

i just love how he lists all of the worse things female pop singers have done and then gives the classic argument "well at least she's not doing this." well yeah buddy, but that doesn't mean anything. just becuase people don't go to jail doesn't make them good people.

No, this is the state of a single situation of pop music.
Sometimes I think you sell people too short as to what they can and can't enjoy.

Not really Milli Vanilli seeing as it wasn't another person singing for her.
I love how people keep calling her that yet forget that important little detail.
