theScout.Net (http://www.thescout.net) is becoming a “Podcast” What is that you ask? Well it’s like a downloadable radio show, but so much more. Once a week I will be recording a “Podcast” that you can download. It will feature all the things you love about theScout.Net. Music, News and all round shit talking. As for regular text updates, forget about it. It’s all about the podcast. So why am I doing this? Well, it’s for many reasons, but the number one reason, the love of music. I love music more then anything else. That’s why I started this site. The gossip and the rumors and the shit talking were all just to get people to come here so they would check out good music. It seems the site has shifted away from that in the years. It’s become harder to update and honestly, not as much fun as it use to be.I’ve thought of ending TheScout.Net. I thought of letting other people run it, but the more I thought about it.. the more I felt like I just need to change the entire site. And that’s when I discoveredPodcasting. So what is Podcasting? Well here’s what The Screen Savers said about Podcasting:
“Podcasting is like TiVo for your iPod. iPod + broadcasting = podcasting. Listen to web broadcasts anywhere, anytime. Podcast-receiving software makes it easy to have fresh new content delivered to your iPod automatically… around the clock. Simply, podcasting is the sending of multimedia content (like MP3s or videos) to your computer based on a subscription to a particular feed. For example, let’s say that there’s a site that posts a new radio show every day. Well, instead of going to that site and downloading the episode, you can subscribe to their feed and automatically receive the new episodes whenever they’re posted. You don’t need an iPod to receive podcasts, but some podcast software is built to sync with your iPod automatically. If you have another brand of MP3 player, you’ll have the extra step of transferring fresh MP3s to your player of choice. If you have a portable MP3 player, this is a no-brainer: It’s the future of radio. “
So here’s how you do it:
Step 1: Download Ipodder Go to iPodder and download the Ipodder software and install it on you computer.
Step 2: Enter Feed After you have installed Ipodder, you will want to set it to download the Scout.Net Radio show. To do this cut and paste the fallowing URL:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/Thescoutnet
Now click the add button and enter the URL where is says “Podcast Feed URL” then click “add feed”
Step 3: Updating the feed Now click the “Update Feed” button. This will begin to download the radio show. Be patient, it will take a bit to download, nothing is wrong with the program.
Step 4: Preferences Now go to the “Preferences” tab and click on “File Handling” uncheck the “only download audio files” and check the “Move Audio Files To iTunes” this will automatically add the Radio Show to your playlist.
Options: While in the Preferences tab click on “Auto Checking” and choose how often you want iPodder to check for new radio shows.
Thanks for taking a moment to check out this e-mail and supporting theScout.Net for the past 3 years. I hope that you all support us as the site changes and grows.
