My recommendations are pretty small this week and only consist of one new band, but I hope you enjoy and / or you pick up the two other records I've been listening to because they're definitely two of the year's best.
Mute Math (http://www.mutemath.com) - pureVOLUME (http://www.purevolume.com/mutemath)
This Providence (http://www.thisprovidence.com) - Our Worlds Divorce
Jimmy Eat World (http://www.jimmyeatworld.com) - Futures
Now peep Zach from Jimmy Eat World's list of recommendations.

Agreed. Although Midtown and Northstar are up there for me for Album of the Year right along with "Futures".
woah, i knew i recognized that face and voice!
the lead singer is paul from earthsuit!
that's really wild. earthsuit was an awesome band. i didn't even know they disbanded. got to see them at Creation.
if anyone's interested, they should pick up their album, "kaleidescope superior". really good stuff and paul raps in that one.
mute math is sounding excellent.

those are in no specific order...
The Shins are fucking awesome. "Oh, Inverted World" is a great cd. some of the songs are really really weird, but it's still worth buying. "Chutes To Narrow" is also really good. i suggest the songs "Caring is Creepy" (from Garden State), "Girl On the Wing", "Kissing the Lipless" and "Saint Simon".

is futures really that good? i was hesistant on buying it in case it was just a replica of of bleed american. Not that I don't like bleed american, I just don't see a point in having 2.

I haven't heard the This Providence album, and althought I highly await it, I'll replace that with Straylight Run, and there's my top five as well.

I think Futures is the best CD of the year. I would put it as a mix of Clarity and Bleed American. Very good CD.
