Lo-Fi News Letter Oct 30 Straylight Run! Solid State Tour with The Chariot!! X-96 jumps on!!!

Well Ska was not dead last Monday as over 200 kids came to see Catch 22, Suburban Legends, and Mustard Plug skank the night away. It was a blast! Beautiful Mistake got stranded or something in Denver but the three local bands A Death Of Us All, Ayrton, and Single File made the show worth coming to anyway! The local scene never ceases to amaze me and the show was great.

OK, I must admit though that the highlight of my week was the Halloween Show on Saturday night with Bullets and Octane! Call it hype or blah, WHATEVER. Anybody who did not come to this show lost out BIG TIME! Don’t get me wrong, Broke put on one of the best shows I have ever seen out of them and their new guitarist Brian makes the circle complete. Kill Radio has come so far in such a short period of time here in SLC, and my brothers always The Salt City Bandits did a great job getting up there and rockin out a great set after Bullets and Octane stole the show like WHOA! Seriously by the third song the only people left standing in the back was the sound engineer Brian and one of the “hydration technicians” and nobody else. They captivated the entire crowd. The lead guy Gene has the most badass full back piece tattoo of Spy VS. Spy. Just in case you want to give Bullets and Octane a listen this time you can by going to:

The Halloween party would not have been nearly as fun if Riana and Jessie from Sony BMG would not have been there with all their free stuff trick or treat style! We had bobbing for body parts for some cool t-shirts for a while until this one guy came in and took out his teeth and plunged his face into the water 3 separate times before gumming a Barbie doll leg. So, ummm, ya that is about when we decided that nobody else was gonna want to bob for ANYTHING even a million dollars. Thanks for coming to the party people! Thanks Sony Music!

ATTENTION ALL SOLID STATE FANS! The Solid State Young Bloods Tour is coming to Lo-Fi Café! Seriously, just listen to the bands on this tour, you may not have heard of any of them before but you will I promise. The Chariot has Norma Jeans original lead singer.

*********************************** ******************

THE LO-FI CAFÉ would like to say thanks so much to the wonderful staff at The Channel 105.7 for being a part of the Lo-Fi team for the 8 months they were on board with us. Clear Channel has decided to totally wipe out the staff and re-vamp the format as of last Friday which means that our best friends Derik, Lucky, and A-Dog are no longer going to be with us either which totally bums me out. Goodbye to Brandon, the best darn music director in Utah as well. Thanks for all your help!

The Lo-Fi Café would like to welcome our newest addition to the great team of partners and affiliates that we have X-96! We are very excited at the opportunity to be affiliated with an all-independent radio station of this caliber. SO, to start things off right, make sure to go to their site and sign up to be a free loader damnit!

http://www.x96.com/

You’ll want to do this because it is only a matter of time before we will have a free loaders only party at Lo-Fi Café. Also don’t forget to listen to Doug on their LIVE AND LOCAL SHOW on Sundays from 8-10pm and now that this is pretty much the ONLY station promoting local music if you are in a local band in the area you may want to submit your material right away so that you get heard:

X96 is bringing you its first ever Live and Local CD to benefit the Utah
Food Bank this Holiday season. If you are in a local band and are
interested in being on X96 Live and Local vol. 1, please send 1 or 2 songs*
recorded on CD to:

X96
515 South 700 East #1C
SLC, UT 84102
ATTN: Natalie

DON’T BE AFRAID TO COME TO YOUR FAVORITE SHOW
***********************************

At the Lo-Fi we are a non-genre specific venue featuring all forms of rock, punk, and hip-hop. No matter what you hear, no matter what you think, with our well educated well trained staff there is no reason to be afraid of coming to any show you want to see no matter what genre of music it may be.

We have never had this many shows coming through one single venue in town since the Speedway Café was around and it is exciting stuff. Keep the scene alive by supporting the bands that come through Salt Lake to play shows and keep them coming back. It is up to you.

***********************************
JOIN THE LO-FI CAFÉ MYSPACE GROUP

Sending naughty pics to Jimmy will NOT get you in for free to shows!

***********************************
PARKING AT LO-FI CAFÉ
***********************************

Here are some quick parking tips. Don’t EVER pay to park man! Come at doors at park on the south side of the Salt Palace, the south side of Crossroads Mall, or better yet just go park at Crossroads Mall and after 11pm the parking is free. Free Parking on Sundays at Crossroads as well. Don’t ever park in the $5 parking next to Lo-Fi they are a bunch of jerks! Oh ya, there is also the parking place south of Lo-Fi which is only $3 sometimes.

***********************************
NEWEST ADDITION TO LO-FI
***********************************

Come to any Lo-Fi show and hang out with your friends in between sets or during the ones you want to hear at a distance inside The Lo-Fi Underground Patio. There are plenty of places to sit and chill and socialize, we may even be getting ping-pong and a dartboard in the near future so stay tuned.

***********************************
EATING AT LO-FI CAFÉ
***********************************

So this one goes out to all those people who said how come there is no coffee and it is called a café? Now we have been given a great menu from Spice exclusive to Lo-Fi Café. There is nothing on this menu over 6 bucks AND there are vegan and veggie options. So all you have to do is order what you want at the ticket counter and someone from Lo-Fi’s cool kid staff will go and get it for you! So shut up! ALSO OFFERING HOT CHOCOLATE, CHIPS, AND LOT’S OF LOVE.

***********************************
DRINKING AT LO-FI CAFÉ
***********************************

Are you worried about going to an all ages show because the kids might see you are getting the alcoholic shakes? Don’t worry man! Come to Lo-Fi and we will give you a VIP Pass to get into The Crazy Goat Saloon (a private club for members) without having to pay an additional cover! It is only 25 feet away and all you have to do is prove you are 21 or older ok?

***********************************
GIVE US A HEADS UP!
***********************************

In an effort to bring Utah only the best in live music for all ages we want to know who you would like to see. Send us an email at info@front9productions.com and let us know who we should try and get to play next at the Lo-Fi. If we decide to bring a band in based on your recommendation we will add you plus one person to the guest list for their show.

***********************************
GET ON THE LO-FI STREET TEAM BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
***********************************

We only have room for a few more good people on the Lo-Fi Street Team before we are done with our Street Team Roster for 2004/2005 so send your request to be involved to secretweapon@front9productions.com or call Jake Maxwell direct @ 801-414-8994 and say “I want to be your secret weapon!”

***********************************

Thanks again to everyone who loves live music as much as we do! We’ll see you at the next show!

BROUGHT TO YOU BY NOW ON TOUR, CHANNEL 105.7 24TIX, GRAYWHALE CD EXCHANGE, HEAVY METAL SHOP, SOUND VS SILENCE, MODIFIED MUSIC, BIG DELUXE TATTOO, THE ABYSS, KILBY COURT, LOW CLOTHING, MOOSE KNUCKLE CONCERTS, AND HAMMER PANTS PRODUCTIONS.
