I'm a huge Israel Vibration fan. I've never been too keen on Reggae, but a friend floated me a copy of Praises a few years ago and I instantly fell in love.
I won't deny the fact that I'm not as particularly enamored with the later work in comparison to the initial three albums. Unconquered People is their best album, in my humble opinion.

haha my theory on there's something for everyone in ska & reggae music continues to prevail. great band though. i adore those first three albums too, but the band has so much more to offer & have a considerable number of albums that are of equal quality. but each to their own, unconquered people is a great choice

Fall Out Boy--Infinity on High
BOATS isn't really all that hated, except by the fans of SILYMI who didn't want the new sound and the Geffen execs who tried to change the album. Alt. Press, and even this website, gave it stellar reviews and it's still held by many as the best TSL album and one of the best to ever come out of the genre. And that's not opinion, try posting a topic about it and watch the response...
Bobby Tucker
08/30/08, 06:28 PM
Also, Direction was critically lauded, so many critics rated it as the strongest and most mature album by the band... I won't judge FOB or PatD, because I never really read too many reviews of their albums, but the only people who hated BOATS and Direction were those who never liked the band, or the genre for that matter.

I know, surely North wasn't hated?
I love that album so much... It was hated by pretty much everyone I hung around with when it came out. A lot of them also said they were SoCo fans as well. I still run into people who say they don't like this album if I bring it up. Boggles my mind, really.
Against Me! - New Wave
Less Than Jake - Anthem
Rise Against - The Sufferer & The Witness
you are making a terrible joke by putting 3 on there.
Saves the Day - "In Reverie"
Love it.
People hated that?! Na i'm just playing a lot of people really gave that album a hard time, but I freaking loved it.

I liked North better, personally, though "I woke up in a car" is still my favorite SoCo song... I guess it's just because I could listen to North from beginning to end, whereas I skipped around a lot on LTtW

Do you think it was better than Leaving Through The Window? I don't think it was necessarily better. I don't think it was as catchy and that was the main complaint I heard from people who disliked it. I think they are pretty equal, but I am also in the minority and think that Jack's Mannequin is better, but I just attribute that to growing older.

It's alright. Not really my thing but not as bad as some make it out to be. It's on a par with What It is to Burn but for completely different reasons.
Like most people it seems, I disliked it at first but it grew on me pretty quick, and eventually became my favorite Finch album.
It's not an album I listen to a lot (I've never been a huge Finch fan to begin with) but it's certainly not a terrible album.

While it garnered praise from critics, many MMJ fans feel it's a poor album and that it's seemingly inferior to At Dawn, which I agree with for the most part (with the exception of Dondante being the best written song recorded by MMJ), but Z was still a fine, if not stellar album.
