Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia to benefit one of its presidential election candidates.

Putin has become severely unhinged. He's just pissed that the rest of the world just shit in his sandbox for trying to so something when he thought no one was paying attention. Now he is just making things up to make himself look sane. Whatever helps him sleep at night, I guess.

This will not matter at all for the election. It doesn't suggest who Puting is talking about, and most Americans will not listen to a word that psycho has to say.

I beg to differ. None of us were around during The Cold War, we don't have anything else but history books and our elders to tell us how scary it was. My gf's father shit ten bricks during all of this, and now thinks that Russia is ready to pounce. He isn't some wack job, he is an intelligent man. It's actually very eye-opening, despite it's not a factor on why I'm voting the way I am.
I believe that some people will use this Russia thing as a means of voting for McCain.

I think the people who see this as a reason to vote for McCain probably already planned on voting McCain. If they're voting for McCain because he's "experienced" and knows about war, then they've already had their mind made up. I know Putin is an intelligent man, I just don't think that Americans are going to heed his advice.

I really think that the whole Georgia-Russia thing could only help Obama. Who did we send over there to talk with Georgia? Joe Biden. That should definitely remind people how respected Biden is in the foreign relations community, and having him on Obama's ticket totally shuts down the foreign relations attack.

No way man. It isn't going to have that much of an effect. Like I said before, people who are going to take this into consideration already have their minds made up about voting for McCain. More people will turn to Obama due to Biden being the person sent over there to talk with the Georgians. And what the fuck are you doing in the politics forum haha, I thought this wasn't your thing

It isn't but Putin's nuts. I think you underestimate how fucking stupid the vast majority of voters out there really are. I mean you already have a boat load of Hilary supporters that are willing to vote for McCain just because even though he stands for an entirely different set of values and ideas. Seriously, watching the DNC is just as bad as spending a night watching Rock of Love. The people of this country are fucked. Something like this could most certainly sway voters.

Whether or not Obama wins or loses in the general, this day will be talked about for a very long time. The first black nominee of a major party is accepting his nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech. This is an amazing thing we are watching.

The most hilarious part so far was the maraca player in Sheryl Crow's band yelling out "1-2-3-4!!!" to kick off a song and then having nothing better to do than sit there and shake his maracas.

russia has a chip on it's shoulder for sure, but i can't really blame them for it and i don't think the initial russian reaction to what georgia was attempting to do was out of line....they aren't right but they aren't wrong either at this point.
i think alot of people in the u.s. would love to paint russia as this big evil aggressor because then much of the world would have to go back to being tight with us by default......nevermind the fact that we've invaded a couple countries, started denying trials, torturing prisoners, and are continually chipping away at our own personal liberties one at a time.
