the used is actually a good pick....their decline in popularity, their decline in "goodness?", and berts very LOUD personality are alll superior reasons to their demise...
too bad. they went from a GREAT album, to an GOOD album, to a Ehhhh i see a trend here.
It's all about the 4th album...
but again good pick.... idk about lawrence arms

Superior to their demise, what? Not like The Used was ever even remotely good.

Maybe it's because I'm up far too early but I don't have a clue what the fuck "superior reasons to their demise" means.
domotime2
08/30/08, 02:42 AM
well i made a list earlier in that sentence...haha and then i ended it with "....are all superior reasons to their demise". A comma was probably in order, my bad. and good morning
IWasaCamera
08/30/08, 02:54 AM
The way your sentence is phrased seems to suggest that the reasons listed are superior to (ie. greater than) their demise. This makes little sense to me.
If by "superior" you meant "of a higher nature", then "for" would have been the correct preposition to employ.
Again, I apologize for this rambling.

Paramore will be gone by 2010. They'll release one more album before the rest of the band members get sick and tired of everyone's attention on Hayley Williams and then she'll release a solo album...oh wait most of that is already happening, isn't it?

i definitely agree, a lot of the bands out right now are going to be going their seperate ways/side-projects, etc.
and since so many of the scene bands right now do sound practically identical, i really don't think they'll stick together once the audience has dissipated.

If that was a poor attempt to strike at the fact I have my avatar the way it is, congratulations!
No, underoath's no worse than any of the trend-based bands now. No need to get bent out of shape because we're going for some contest.
But yes, I see them being washed away like most popular bands.
Seriously?
If you're asking if I seriously think that, then yes. If not by 2010, at least 2012. I can't see most of the bands everyone enjoys being around in four years.

Right. Crying. I don't really mind if you hate underoath, that's your choice. I'm not going to waste my time saying otherwise. I don't see the point of calling anyone out simply because they want to win shit. That's like grabbing someone who buys a lottery ticket and randomly yelling "Douchebag!" Just seems weird.
On actual topic: I'd actually hope for this to happen. I'd like all the old bands (however great some of them may be) to be washed away and bring in a new generation of less shittier music.

This.
I think we all know by now that Brand New likes to toy with their fans. Jesse Lacey obviously (I hope) knows that people are going to go ape shit, and think of crazy reasons, over things he does on stage. He threw a fucking guitar, so what? People have been doing that for decades! He told people to go see a band beside his, good for him. EITS, imo, is way better than Brand New. Lacey is a smart man.

Underoath makes more money then 90% of the bands out there. They're only getting bigger.
Aiden again is getting bigger. Their breakup would probably be due to Victory somehow, but I don't see it happening. I wish, but doubtful.

MARSHALL?!
Yes, why?
Paramore (hopefully)
The Offspring have been around far too long, and although I love them, they'll most definitely be gone by 2010. I have a feeling Nine Inch Nails will be gone a little after 2010, because although just about every one of their albums been masterpieces, Trent's split from the record label will eventually lead him from an independant musician to retirement. I think Aiden will probably either make it big or just disappear by then, same with Calabrese. And finally, with Head and David Silveria gone from KoRn, and the ultimate suckness of their latest album, they'll probably be gone too.

Cartel, Mae, and The Used if they release shitty albums again, though I actually like all of their earlier stuff.
I feel like the APnet outcast for saying this, but maybe Valencia. I don't care what anyone else says, that new album is really depressing to listen to (except for that last song, Free), not because the songs are bad but because the theme is so depressing and spread throughout everything on the album. I think one more album, another Promise of Redemption album, then Shane tests the waters outside Valencia.

Depends on the label and the public appeal. I think with Cartel, they tried so hard to sell their new album with that bubble gimmick they alienated a lot of potential fans and failed to gain many new fans. Another shitty album, if they attempt to sell it to the MTV crowd again, could destroy their pop-punk fanbase and leave them with few other options. Again, I like Chroma, so I'd hate to see that happen.
I can probably agree with your statement in terms of the Used though. A lot of people hated ILAD, even though I liked it, and Lies for the Liars was not the most enjoyable album to listen to, yet I assume they'll keep pumping out albums as long as a label will put it.

I can barely see Fall Out Boy holding it together. Patrick's into producing and Pete is into fashion and extending his 15 minutes of fame. I think that this upcoming album will hold the MTV fanbase's attention for a while, but still be forgettable, people will still gobble it up, and they will have a clean break-up or they will have another release, which will suck and they will call it quits after the tour in support.

Thats basically my opinion.
I just think this next release will still receive attention. It probably won't be any good, however. Pete's just making himself into more of a celebrity than an artist.
Yeah that is true. Oh Pete. I guess it really does depend on this album though. Ugh, but they said it's more political and it's going to be released on election day.... hmmm. Sounds like a set up for a flop.

I agree, them writing political stuff isn't likely to turn out well.
and do you think they're gonna stick with Jay-Z on guest spots, or do you think they'll go all out and get Lil Wayne or Kanye?

Oh my gosh if they had Lil Wayne on the new album i would be pissed. I could definitely see Kanye, although most likely Jay-Z because he did a shout out for them on the opening track of IOH.

I don't know if anyone said this, but Cute Is What We Aim For is an obvious choice.
I can barely see Fall Out Boy holding it together. Patrick's into producing and Pete is into fashion and extending his 15 minutes of fame. I think that this upcoming album will hold the MTV fanbase's attention for a while, but still be forgettable, people will still gobble it up, and they will have a clean break-up or they will have another release, which will suck and they will call it quits after the tour in support.
all that and pete wentz is married to a simpson. seriously if i was hitting that i wouldn't worry about my now terrible not really-indie-band.
unfortunately i can see mae dropping out of the game if this album tanks.
i think brand new has at least one album left in them (beyond the one they're currently working on) and subsequent tour. then like in 20 years getting back together.

Yeah, i had heard that, that's why i said it, haha.
But.. I would die if it was Lil Wayne, can't standddd him.
Even without a cameo, i don't think it's going to do much with this weird "theme" they're going for.

I think that Pete has a degree in Political Science so it might not be as bad as you think if it goes political.

I have to agree that Brand New seems altogether a little too unstable to last a great deal of time.

I think they've made their mark in history. I'm sure that they'll continue making music past that year, yeah. But if they were to stop, they've made a huge impact that's not going to be forgotten easily like most of the shitty bands around currently.
Merely being present in 2010 suffices, the impact the artists make is of no importance. Barring some earth-shattering disaster, quite a few current bands will stick it out for another 2 years at the very least.

All personal opinion aside: Metro Station, Forever the Sickest Kids, Sing It Loud, Motion City Soundtrack, All Time Low, and all the other power-pop keyboard bands will be long gone. And good riddance.
I hope that doesn't come true :-( :-( :-(
I think Paramore will, though...I agree with whoever it was that said they'll do one more album together and then Hayley will go solo.

I reckon all those preppy pop punk bands that sound the same,
We The Kings, Kids In Glass Houses, all that,
It just all sounds the same and the market will become saturated soon.

as much as this makes me sad, its probably true. its a good way to go out. but it would be even more awesome if they became this supergroup that does several kinds of music and hit it mainstream eventually and stuck around another 10 years.
