Daphne Loves Derby (http://daphnelovesderby.com) - I love Seattle. I love these type bands. Super chill music, check out their EP. They're also up for that Takeover Records contest, so if you like what you hear, go vote for em.

Forgive Durden (http://forgivedurden.com) - <3 Seattle again. Simply fantastic lyrics along with that "Rocketstar" sound.

He is Legend (http://heislegend.com) - Tooth and Nail/Solid State's new hardcore child. Take Beloved, Eighteen Visions, and a tiny dash of Every Time I Die and throw it into a blender. Press puree and pour into your ears. Serve hot with a side of mosh pit.

Zolof and the Rock and Roll Destroyer (http://www.zoloftherockandrolldestroyer.co m/) - Is it possible to get any catchier than this band? I normally hate bands with female vocalists, but the synth-driven pop rock blends perfectly with her giddy voice. Plus, Anthony from Saosin returns to his old band to do guest vocals on this ep, "The Popsicle EP". Check it.

Owen (http://purevolume.com/owen) - The new EP is well, really creative. It also has some of the most interesting lyrics I've ever heard. It's a pretty chill album. Give this a listen.

Also, go see I <3 Huckabees. Hilariously weird - keep an open mind and you'll really enjoy it.

i bought the he is legend record with high expectations, having listened to and thoroughly enjoyed the mp3s that they had posted before it was released, only to find that it was terrible, and a waste of my hard-earned twelve dollars. the only thing that is worthy of being subjected to my ears on this release, are their incredibly brutal breakdowns and that one sizzling guitar solo in '...best in mexico,' upon which my heart tends to stop beating, that is until it returns to the forgettable background noise that the rest of the cd consists of, unless the singer is going to scream, i suggest that he never open his mouth again, i think i would've liked this better had they completely ripped off every.time.i.die, which isn't saying much...

The Owen Ep came out earlier this summer. His new full length comes out on Tuesday and I'm guessing that's what you're referring too. I know it only has 8 songs but thats what Mike Kinsella does. The American football full length only had 9 same as the first Owen full length. The second Owen cd had only 7 songs.
Besides every thing Mike Kinsella touches turns to gold.

end rant.

DLD is god. But they don't want to be voted for in the contest.

They said it in their LJ

This is exactly what I was going to post. I definitely get more of an American Football from this release compared to the others.

really? i thought this one he seemed to finally be breaking away from the American Football days.. which sucks in a way but its not a bad thing because it is still a great sound, just seems alittle more fast passed.. vocals kinda sound similar to John Nolans in straylight this time... key word kinda.. but after hearing "She's a thief" thats what i thought of.

dear bushcore,

thanks so much for your opinion, however, i am by all means not a closedminded hardcore meathead as you put it. i don't even like most hardcore. in fact, i tire of the genre incessantly. some of my favorite bands are anathallo, xiu xiu, fugazi, and sufjan stevens, so i suppose if i was some important document in the collective filing cabinets of the music scene, i'd be filed under indie, however, that's beside the point. i never mocked the jazz infusion which is innovative, i agree, for some reason, however, i can't bring myself to be able to listen to the record, their breakdowns are incredibly brutal and i love them, but i guess it is the progressive punk feel that they intertwine with it combined with the singer's voice that just doesn't get me. it almost sounds, God forbid, nu-metal, like staind or some other over-rated band that mtv endorses. (example: the chorus on 'the creature walks...') either way, i won't listen to this bushcore, cause' i don't really like it, but props on your screen name... :lol2:

hahaha!!! it's my old counter-strike buddy sleeve. haha...no seriously, Huckabees is great. Very, very interesting movie that really made me think - didn't change my mindset on anything, but made me think about life and our existence.
